Job summary

NIIT is seeking a Senior Software Testing Engineer to ensure high-quality software through comprehensive testing strategies. You will lead test design, execute manual and automated tests, and collaborate with development and product teams in an Agile setup.

The role emphasizes test automation with Selenium, TestNG, Postman, and strong defect tracking. 1.5–2 years of hands-on experience is preferred, in web and mobile contexts.

Qualifications

• 1.5–2 years hands-on manual testing across web/mobile apps.
• Experience with test automation tools (Selenium, Postman or equivalents).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, SDLC, STLC and defect tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to design test scenarios and cases.
• Create/maintain manual and automated test scripts for functional/regression testing.
• Ensure test coverage for modules and collaborate with devs, product owners, and analysts.
• Log, track and verify defects using JIRA, Azure DevOps or similar tools.
• Support CI/CD by contributing to automated testing and test data management.
• Guide juniors in test design and execution and share QA knowledge within the team.

Job Overview

The Senior Software Testing Engineer is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software applications through comprehensive testing strategies and execution. The role involves leading test design and execution activities, supporting test automation efforts, and collaborating closely with development and product teams in an Agile environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Analyze business and functional requirements to develop detailed test scenarios and test cases.
• Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
• Ensure complete test coverage for assigned modules or applications.
• Identify, log, track, and manage defects using tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and validate fixes.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, TestNG, Postman, or similar frameworks.
• Contribute to building reusable test automation components.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives).
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure quality deliverables.
• Ensure adherence to QA standards, processes, and best practices.
• Support continuous integration and continuous testing practices
• Guide and support junior testers or freshers in test case design and execution
• Share knowledge of tools, frameworks, and testing methodologies within the team

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related engineering field.

Experience

• 1.5 to 2 years is required
• Strong hands-on experience in manual testing across web and/or mobile applications.
• Working knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, Postman, or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Exposure to API testing and basic database validation (SQL) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of software testing life cycle (STLC) and SDLC
