Overview

Senior Software Engineer – Network Automation role responsible for designing, developing and improving software that delivers business, platform and technology capabilities for Barclays customers and colleagues.

This role is based in the Pune office and focuses on the creation of advanced network automation platforms and integration services, ensuring scalable, maintainable and performance‑optimized solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks and tools.
• Design, build and maintain scalable microservice‑based solutions and modern web applications (React/Angular or equivalent).
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, designers and other engineers to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
• Write secure, reliable, and production‑grade code in accordance with secure coding practices.
• Implement effective unit testing practices and participate in code reviews to promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Lead the development of network automation and integration using Netconf/Yang, YAML/JSON, Jinja, Parsers, Netmiko or similar.
• Apply API design and system integration patterns for reliable integration.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to the organization’s technology communities.
• Support risk mitigation and strengthen controls within the scope of the work performed.

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on Python development with a product engineering mindset.
• Experience building responsive, accessible UI components and modern web applications using React, Angular or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency in building scalable microservices and working with Kubernetes or other container platforms.
• Knowledge of network automation and integration using Netconf/Yang, YAML/JSON, Jinja, Parsers, Netmiko or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of API design and system integration patterns.
• Experience writing secure, reliable and production‑grade code.
• Strong networking fundamentals (CCNA or equivalent), covering routing, switching, firewall and load balancing.
• Exposure to virtualization and infrastructure environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and SRE concepts (SLIs/SLOs, observability such as ELK or Observe).
