Job Overview

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve software using established engineering methodologies, delivering business, platform, and technology capabilities.
• Develop and deliver high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks and tools.
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable and optimised for performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies and align with business objectives.
• Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to technology communities to foster technical excellence.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implement unit and integration testing practices to ensure code design, readability and reliability.
• Lead a small engineering team on complex tasks, setting objectives, coaching employees and fostering collaboration.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience developing medium‑to‑large Java applications (Core Java, Multi‑Threading, Spring, Spring Boot).
• Working knowledge of API development using REST/SOAP and familiar with Spring MVC, Spring Security.
• Strong command of HTTP protocol, web services, and understanding of API integrations, data pipelines and event‑driven architecture.
• Unix scripting experience for simple tasks, log checking and process monitoring.
• Strong SQL skills (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Hands‑on experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred), containerisation, CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Experience working in Agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Front‑end development experience with ReactJS, Angular or TypeScript.
• Knowledge of unit and integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jest, React Testing Library).
• Proficiency with development tools such as GitLab, VSCode, IntelliJ/Eclipse and JIRA.
• Experience with Python‑based development.
• Nice to have: basic knowledge of large language models and agentic AI patterns (tool use, RAG, prompt engineering, memory management, guardrails); exposure to AI tools such as AWS Bedrock, Claude or similar.
• Experience building systems in trading, banking or other financial organisations.
• Excellent organisational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical mindset and structured problem‑solving approach.
• Ability to mentor team members and guide the team to quality deliverables using sound engineering practices.
