Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Software Engineer - L2/L3 in datapath forwarding to design and implement high-performance network features on Layer 2/3, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, SRv6 and EVPN-VxLAN.

The role focuses on C/C++/Python, debugging, and working with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software, with onsite office work and opportunities to grow in a global edge-to-cloud company.

Qualifications

• Excellent C/C++/Python programming, design, problem solving and debugging skills.
• Must have strong Networking background.
• Prior experience with Software development on routers, switches is desirable.
• Prior experience with datapath ASICs like Broadcom, Mellanox, Innovium, Barefoot or any other NPU is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work with customer facing teams to understand requirements and translate into software design.
• Develop complex packet forward features in Layer 2 & Layer 3, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, SRv6, EVPN-VxLAN, Multicast, Firewall/Filter, DHCP etc
• Analyze, debug and fix complex microkernel/Linux issues.
• Continuously drive innovations by working with cross functional teams to address complex problems.
• Assist in solving complex customer issues and queries reported from the field and drive customer satisfaction.
• Work on sustaining existing features.

What you will do

What you need to bring

Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of B.E or BTech from a reputed institution in CS/EE with 7 to 9 years of experience is required.

Job Requirement

• Excellent C/C++/Python programming, design, problem solving and debugging skills
• Must have strong Networking background.
• Prior experience with Software development on routers, switches is desirable.
• Prior experience with datapath ASICs like Broadcom, Mellanox, Innovium, Barefoot or any other NPU is highly desirable.
• Must be playing a strong technical role in the current position
• Exposure to multi-core Software architectures
• A clear understanding of the product development cycle, technical requirements with a strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.
• Candidate must have a strong record delivering software projects on-time and with high quality
• Candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, be highly self-motivated, and have the ability to work in a team environment
• C Programming fundamentals, String Operations, Memory Operations, Pointer Operations, Macro & Typedef, Bit manipulations
• Data structures - Array, link list, Binary tree, Hash table
• OS Concepts - IPC, synchronization, memory segmentation
• C Problem solving practice with lot of different problems using tool
• Networking concepts - IPV4/ IPV6, TCP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, DHCP, STP, Multicast => (any one deep dive)
• Debugging tools expertise like - GDB with GDB Macro's or GDB scripts
