Job summary

Optum in Hyderabad, India is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Java Fullstack to design, develop and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot and cloud-native patterns. You will build RESTful APIs, microservices, integrate AI capabilities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software while supporting CI/CD pipelines and best practices.

Applicants should have 5+ years in Java/Spring Boot, 3+ years on MS SQL Server and Azure, plus experience

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java/Spring Boot.
• 3+ years designing, building, and deploying cloud-native apps on Azure.
• 3+ years working with MS SQL Server, including schema design and performance tuning.
• 3+ years designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.
• 3+ years using Git and automated CI/CD pipelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices-based solutions
• Integrate Generative AI, LLMs, AI services, or intelligent automation capabilities into business applications
• Design and optimise database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, business analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards, security, and best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements
• Support CI/CD pipelines and release management activities
• Create technical documentation and contribute to architectural discussions
• AI User and capable of using AI tools
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate or Postgraduate in Computer Science/Engineering/Science or related field
• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering and enterprise application development using Java and Spring Boot
• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure
• 3+ years of experience working with MS SQL Server, including schema design, performance tuning, and query optimization
• 3+ years of experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
• 3+ years of experience using version control tools (e.g., Git) and automated CI/CD pipelines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or relevant cloud architecture certification
• Experience integrating AI-powered application components, machine learning API services, or cognitive tools
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular)
