Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer in Hyderabad to design, develop and maintain scalable web applications using Java, Spring Boot and modern front-end technologies. You will build RESTful services, work with microservices, and deploy on cloud platforms while collaborating with Agile and DevOps teams.

You should have 4+ years of hands-on full-stack experience, strong Java 17+ skills, and familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• At least 4+ years of hands-on full-stack development experience with Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs and Hibernate.
• Proficiency with GitHub, CI/CD tools, and modern cloud deployments.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyze business and technical requirements, Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications, write unit test cases and support application testing
• Support deployment, post-deployment activities, and ongoing maintenance
• Collaborate with Agile and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in Java application development
• 3+ years of experience using GitHub for source code management, branching strategies, and version control
• 2+ years of experience developing applications using Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and Hibernate
• 2+ years of experience working with SQL/PL-SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases such as Azure Cosmos DB
• 1+ years of experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture patterns
• 1+ years of experience working with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Experience working with Angular, Node JS, React JS, Svelte JS, HTML/CSS, Java Script, Familiarity with build tools (Maven/Gradle, npm/yarn) and version control (Git)
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices-based architecture
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
• Solid understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and modern application architecture
• Solid understanding of software engineering development and best practices, security principles, testing methodologies, and Agile development processes
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD
• Solid proficiency in Java 17+, Spring Boot, RESTful Web Services, Hibernate, JPA, and enterprise application development
• Proven excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and other enterprise-approved AI tools
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI for coding, testing, documentation, and analysis
• Demonstrated solid adoption of AI-assisted development practices (target 90%+ weekly usage)
• Demonstrates continuous learning and adoption of emerging AI capabilities
