Job summary

Optum India is seeking a senior software engineer to design and develop scalable voice/IVR applications using TypeScript, AWS Lex, and AI-driven flows. The role emphasizes building backend services with Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB, while integrating IVR systems with telephony platforms.

You will work on end-to-end voice solutions, optimize interactions, and collaborate with product and data/AI teams to deliver conversational AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lex, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Experience building conversational AI/IVR systems and integrating with telephony platforms.
• Experience with LLMs (AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) for intent detection and conversational AI.
• Experience with cloud-native application development on AWS.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable voice/IVR applications using TypeScript, AWS Lex, and LLM-based AI
• Implement intelligent intent detection and conversational flows using LLMs to enhance Lex capabilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production IVR/AI systems

• Participate in code reviews, agile processes, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of software development experience with solid TypeScript/JavaScript skills
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lex, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB)
• Experience building conversational AI/IVR systems and integrating with telephony platforms
• Experience with LLMs (AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) for intent detection and conversational AI
• Experience with cloud-native application development and deployment on AWS
• Knowledge of debugging, performance optimization, and system reliability
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock for building, deploying, and scaling generative AI applications
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD practices
• Demonstrated solid problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
