Job summary

DPDzero is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of our AI-powered digital collections platform. You will work on backend systems that integrate large language models and voice AI, collaborating with product and applied AI teams to deliver scalable fintech solutions.

You will own features end-to-end, assume responsibility for performance and reliability, and mentor other engineers while learning and applying emerging AI technologies in real-time voice

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proven track record of owning features or technical areas end-to-end that handle large-scale traffic.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g. Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
• Hands-on experience with relational or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) such as Llama, GPT, Claude, or similar; CI/CD pipelines and performance monitoring.

• Work with cross-functional teams to turn dynamic product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Design APIs and backend systems with performance, reliability, and maintainability in mind.
• Integrate LLMs and voice AI technologies to build intelligent systems.

About the role

DPDzero is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of our digital collections and recovery platform. This role uniquely blends traditional backend engineering with cutting-edge AI-powered features, including large language models (LLMs) and real-time Voice AI.

You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, applied AI engineers, and engineering teams to build scalable, reliable backend systems and intelligent workflows that power innovative fintech products. While experience with AI/Voice technologies is a strong plus, we value engineers who have a solid foundation in backend development and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Work with cross-functional teams to turn dynamic product requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions
• Design APIs and backend systems with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Build and enhance intelligent systems by integrating large language models (LLMs) such as Llama, GPT, Claude, or similar, and voice AI technologies (e.g., LiveKit)
• Write clean, well-tested code, contribute to technical standards, conduct code reviews, and maintain thorough system documentation to ensure high-quality, maintainable software
• Own features or technical areas end-to-end — from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring
• Drive improvements in existing systems for scalability, observability, and fault tolerance
• Mentor and support other engineers through feedback, knowledge sharing, and hands-on guidance
• Help set standards, guide tooling decisions, and shape engineering direction
• Rapidly learn and adapt to emerging AI and backend technologies to drive innovation and growth

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Proven track record of owning features or technical areas end-to-end that handle large-scale traffic, from design to deployment and monitoring
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g. Python, Go, Java, Node.js, etc.) with a strong understanding of CS fundamentals
• Hands-on experience working with modern relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), including schema design and query optimization
• Experience working with large language models (LLMs) such as Llama, GPT, Claude, or similar
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and performance monitoring
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping shape team
• Willingness and capability to learn and apply AI technologies and real-time voice communication tools

Good to haves:

• Exposure to real-time communication platforms like LiveKit or WebRTC
• Experience working with telephony audio systems
• Experience working in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized setups (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced, product-focused environment
