Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Strategy and Compliance
- Lead the tracking of new and evolving EPR regulations and policy updates across North America, while supporting proactive efforts to simplify regulatory requirements.
- Develop structured audit frameworks and risk-based audit plans to ensure complete compliance with EPR obligations.
- Use AI-enabled tools and automation to improve regulatory monitoring, compliance workflows, and overall response efficiency.
Strategic Planning and Operational Excellence
- Drive strategic planning activities, including the development of a 3-year vision and annual operating plans.
- Define and maintain strong performance metrics and KPIs to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities across the EPR function.
- Lead cross-functional business reviews to align teams, strengthen accountability, and support timely decision-making.
Cost Optimization and Financial Impact
- Develop and execute cost-reduction strategies for EPR recycling fees while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
- Analyse EPR fee structures to identify opportunities for savings and financial efficiency.
- Lead smart eco-modulation initiatives by using automated systems and AI tools to improve packaging design, material selection, and fee visibility across product categories.
- Reduce operational costs linked to take-back services, reverse logistics, and recycling processes through process improvements and strategic partnerships.
Cross-Functional Integration and Decision Support
- Integrate EPR cost considerations into upstream business decisions through automated tools and AI-powered recommendation systems.
- Enable real-time cost impact analysis for retail and Selling Partner teams during product selection, packaging design, and pricing decisions.
About the Team
The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) team leads Amazon’s global EPR compliance strategy, ensuring alignment with post-consumer waste regulations across packaging, electronics, batteries, and textiles.
The team’s vision is to create circular economy value for Selling Partners, Vendors, and customers by linking every product sold to verified recovery outcomes that are transparent, measurable, and auditable.
EPR works closely with Legal, Business, Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable compliance programs. It operates within Amazon’s Regulatory Intelligence, Safety and Compliance (RISC) organization, which focuses on protecting customers from illegal, unsafe, or prohibited products.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- 6+ years of program or project management experience.
- Experience in compliance, audit, or risk management.
- Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships and influence stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent credential.
- Experience using technology, lean principles, or Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes.
- Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with Excel and large-scale data mining or reporting tools such as Python, SQL, or Tableau.
