Job summary

Axis Consultants, a Dehradun-based environmental compliance specialist, seeks an Operations & Compliance Manager. You will lead the client-delivery team, own the compliance calendar, and act as the primary escalation point for rapid moves.

This build-it role involves shaping new processes that do not yet exist and scaling with the company’s growth. You will oversee registrations, returns and renewals across clients, mentor EPR staff, and coordinate with CPCB/SPCB portals.

Qualifications

• Experience in EPR compliance or related regulatory function.
• Capable of leading a small team or managing client accounts independently.
• Hands-on with CPCB/SPCB portals and related regulatory changes.
• Comfortable owning a calendar with strict filing deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own the master compliance calendar across all clients, ensuring registrations, returns, renewals and filings are completed on time.
• Supervise and mentor EPR Executives and trainees, reviewing their work before client submission.
• Serve as the primary client contact for ongoing hands-on attention and delivery.
• Track regulatory changes on CPCB and State boards portals and translate them into internal processes.
• Coordinate with consultant panel for occasional consents and clearance work.
• Provide weekly status updates to the founder detailing client status, risks and capacity.
• Assist in onboarding new hires as the team expands.

The role

We are hiring an Operations & Compliance Manager. The role takes day-to-day client and team management off the founder's plate. You will run the client-delivery team, own the compliance calendar across all our clients, and be the first escalation point when something needs to move fast. It is a build-it role: some of the processes you will run do not fully exist yet.

Key responsibilities

• Own the master compliance calendar (registrations, returns, renewals, EPR target filings) across all clients, and make sure nothing is missed
• Supervise and mentor the EPR Executives and trainees, and review their work before it goes to clients or portals
• Be the primary point of contact for clients who need regular hands-on attention
• Track changes on the CPCB and State Pollution Control Board portals (including UKPCB) and turn them into internal process updates
• Coordinate with our consultant panel on occasional consents and clearances work
• Report weekly to the founder on client status, risks and team capacity
• Help onboard new hires as the team grows

What we are looking for

• 4–6 years in EPR compliance, environmental consulting, or a related regulatory or compliance function
• Working knowledge of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, E-Waste Rules, Battery Waste Rules and the CPCB/SPCB portals
• Complete knowledge of the various EPR Rules and CPCB Developments across different waste streams.
• Proven experience managing a small team or leading client accounts independently
• Comfortable owning a calendar where a missed filing is not an option
• Based in Dehradun or willing to relocate

Nice to have

• Prior experience at an EPR consultancy, PRO, recycler, or a brand owner's EHS/compliance team
