Job summary

Bureau Veritas India Pvt Ltd is seeking a Senior Engineer - QS to oversee quantities, quality, and financial compliance of construction activities. You will verify work on-site against BOQs and contractor invoices, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to specifications and safety norms.

The role requires BE/BTech in Civil or DCE with extensive QS experience, strong communication, and teamwork to coordinate with site teams and consultants. On-site work in Chennai, India is expected.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech (Civil) or DCE with substantial experience in Quantity Surveying.
• 5+ years (BE/B.Tech) or 7+ years (DCE) in QS for civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of BOQ, measurement, and contract invoices.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record quantities for interim and final payments.
• Prepare and verify MBs and site documentation.
• Prepare BOQ from drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with site engineers, contractors and consultants.
• Support cost control, budgeting, and estimating final project costs.

Job description

Senior Engineer - QS

Purpose of Position

The job incumbent is responsible for ensuring work progress, verifying quantities, quality standards, and financial compliance of construction activities. Verify actual work executed on-site against project BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and contractor invoices. Monitor and report construction progress, quality compliance, and adherence to safety norms. Ensure materials used and workmanship align with technical specifications and approved drawings.

Major Responsibilities

• Measure and record quantities of completed work for interim and final payments.
• Prepare and verify measurement books (MBs) and other site documentation.
• Preparation of BOQ from the drawings
• Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and project consultants to resolve discrepancies.
• Support in cost control, budgeting, and estimating final project costs.
• Assist in the certification of contractor bills and validate variations or extra claims.
• Submit detailed inspection reports, photographs, and site status regularly to the head office.
• Track and escape deviations, delays, or non-conformities.

Roles & Responsibilities for HSE

Must comply the BV Cardinal Safety Rules in all situations. To comply company HSE requirements e.g. policies, Procedures, guidelines etc. and local legal requirements on HSE as applicable. To take care of own health and safety as well as colleagues and others. Immediate reporting of any shortcomings on HSE i.e. any incident, unsafe work practices / conditions to his/her immediate Line Managers. Sharing opportunities for improvement on HSE aspects.

Criteria for Performance Evaluation (KPIs)

On-time delivery of Reports Client relationship - Retention and Growth. Compliance of internal and external guidelines, policies, procedures. Internal and external customer service satisfaction (e.g. number of complaints) To adhere Group HSE Guidelines.

Qualification and Experience

General: Graduate Engineer BE/ B.Tech (Civil) with 5+ yrears of relevant experience or DCE with 7+ yrears of relevant experience of Quantity Surveying. Technical: Knowledge of QS in Interior and finishing works of Commercial/Residential Building shall be preferred Knowledge of general builidng QS will be preferred.
