Job summary

Persistent Systems Limited is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust automation frameworks using Java and Playwright for enterprise web applications. You will automate web, API, and end-to-end processes and drive testing within CI/CD pipelines in a collaborative, Agile environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on automation, API testing, and strong SDLC/STLC knowledge, plus experience with CI/CD tools and relational databases.

Qualifications

• 6–11 years experience in Software Testing/QA
• Strong hands-on in Java and Playwright automation
• Experience with API testing (Postman, RestAssured)
• CI/CD integration experience (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Proficient with Git and version control
• Experience in SDLC and STLC, test automation best practices
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• SQL knowledge and API/web service testing with microservices

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Java and Playwright.
• Create, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications, APIs, and end‑to‑end business processes.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to define effective testing strategies.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and faster releases.
• Develop reusable test utilities, automation libraries, and testing best practices.
• Analyze test execution results, identify defects, and coordinate with development teams for issue resolution.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, automation scripts, and execution reports.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
• Validate APIs and backend integrations using automation frameworks and testing tools.
• Drive automation adoption and continuous improvement initiatives within the QA organization.
• Perform root cause analysis for production issues and contribute to quality improvements.

Expertise You’ll Bring:

• 6–11 years of experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance.
• Strong hands‑on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using Java and Playwright.
• Experience with API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or similar testing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC), and test automation best practices.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Proficiency with Git and version control practices.
• Experience developing automation frameworks from scratch and enhancing existing frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of test reporting, test management, and defect tracking tools.
• Experience working in Agile and Scrum-based development environments.
• Knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques.
• Familiarity with web services, REST APIs, JSON, and microservices-based applications.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing priorities.
