Job summary

Persistent is seeking a Senior Python Automation Engineer with 6–8 years of experience in test automation, Python development, and Linux environments. You will design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise applications.

You will work closely with development, QA, and DevOps teams to drive automation initiatives and improve software delivery efficiency.

Qualifications

AboutPosition:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Automation Engineer with 6 to 8 years of experience in test automation, Python development, and Linux environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks and solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise applications. You will work closely with development, QA, and DevOps teams to drive automation initiatives and improve software delivery efficiency.

WhatYou'llDo:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts using Python.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, API, usability, compatibility, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop reusable automation components and utilities to improve testing efficiency.
• Execute automated test suites and analyze test results to identify defects and performance issues.
• Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and testing documentation.
• Work extensively in Linux environments for application deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and automation activities.
• Develop shell scripts and automation tools to streamline testing and operational tasks.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality deliverables.
• Participate in test strategy planning, defect triage, and release validation activities.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and delivery.
• Ensure application quality through robust validation of functional and non-functional requirements.
• Support containerized application testing using Docker and modern testing practices.

ExpertiseYou'llBring:

• 6-8 years of experience in software testing and automation engineering.
• Strong programming expertise in Python, including object-oriented programming, functions, modules, data structures, and scripting.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks using Python.
• Strong experience working in Linux environments such as Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Debian.
• Proficiency in Linux command-line operations, shell scripting, and system troubleshooting.
• Experience performing Functional, Regression, Integration, API, and End-to-End Testing.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies, test lifecycle management, and quality assurance best practices.
• Experience working with CI/CD tools and automated build and deployment processes.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and container-based application testing.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and API testing tools.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
