Job summary

Pace Digitek Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a senior Purchase/Procurement lead to manage end-to-end operations for BESS and Li-ion battery manufacturing. You will drive PR-to-PO cycles, manage suppliers, control costs and ensure material availability to support uninterrupted production.

The role requires 15+ years in manufacturing procurement, strong SAP expertise, and excellent vendor management and stakeholder communication skills, with a focus on cost optimization and strategic sourcing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Supply Chain Management or Materials Management.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement in manufacturing.
• Hands-on procurement in manufacturing, preferably BESS/battery/EV or power electronics.
• Proficiency in SAP/ERP procurement modules and advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• Strong vendor negotiation, cost control and supplier development skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end purchase operations from PR review to PO release and order execution.
• Drive timely procurement of BESS and battery manufacturing materials and BOM-driven items.
• Ensure material availability aligned with production plans and MRP.
• Monitor open POs, supplier commitments and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with Production, PPC, Engineering, Quality, Stores and Finance for requirements and clarifications.
• Develop supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance for quality and cost.
• Manage domestic and international procurement including import docs, LC/TT payments and logistics.
• Identify procurement risks and implement corrective actions for shortages.
• Drive cost optimization through benchmarking and strategic sourcing.
• Monitor procurement MIS, open PO reports and cost trends.
• Utilize ERP/SAP for procurement transactions, tracking and reporting.
• Establish standardized procurement processes and controls.
• Lead and mentor the purchase team for timely execution.

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage end-to-end purchase operations for BESS and Li-ion Battery Manufacturing, ensuring timely procurement of raw materials, components, consumables and production-critical materials. The role will focus on PR-to-PO execution, supplier management, material availability, cost optimization, inventory control and coordination with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality and Stores to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage end-to-end purchase operations, including Purchase Requisition (PR) review, RFQ, vendor negotiations, Purchase Order (PO) release and order execution.
2. Drive timely procurement of BESS and battery manufacturing materials, including electrical components, electronic parts, mechanical components, fabricated structures, cables, connectors, busbars, enclosures and other BOM-driven materials.
3. Ensure timely material availability in line with production plans, MRP requirements, BOM revisions and inventory coverage.
4. Monitor open purchase orders, supplier commitments, delivery schedules and material lead times to avoid production shortages and line stoppages.
5. Coordinate with Production, PPC, Engineering, Quality, Stores and Finance for material requirements, technical clarifications, inspection and payment processing.
6. Develop and maintain supplier relationships, evaluate vendor performance and ensure adherence to quality, cost and delivery commitments.
7. Handle domestic and international procurement, including import documentation, shipment tracking, customs coordination, LC/TT payments and logistics follow-ups.
8. Identify procurement risks, resolve material shortages, manage escalations and implement corrective actions for delayed supplies.
9. Drive cost optimization through price benchmarking, commercial negotiations, alternate vendor development and strategic sourcing.
10. Monitor procurement MIS, open PO reports, pending PRs, supplier delivery performance, material shortages and purchase cost trends.
11. Ensure effective utilization of ERP/SAP for procurement transactions, material tracking, vendor management and reporting.
12. Establish standardized purchase processes, procurement controls and operating procedures to improve efficiency and transparency.
13. Lead, mentor and monitor the purchase team, ensuring accountability, productivity and timely execution of procurement activities.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Supply Chain Management or Materials Management.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Purchase / Procurement Operations in a manufacturing industry.
• Strong hands-on experience in purchase operations within a manufacturing environment, preferably BESS, battery manufacturing, EV, power electronics or automotive.
• Proficiency in SAP/ERP procurement modules and advanced MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and MIS reporting.
• Strong vendor negotiation, cost control, supplier development and relationship management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience in BESS, Li-ion Battery Manufacturing, EV or Power Electronics manufacturing will be highly preferred.
