Job summary

Consult Shekhar Pandey is seeking a Supply Chain Leader - Category Management to drive end-to-end global procurement for BESS components, including containers, PCS, and transformers. You will negotiate LTAs, manage inventory, and mitigate supply risks across geographies.

You will lead strategic sourcing, RFQs/RFPs, and monitor commodity trends while aligning with EPC and project teams to ensure timely project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain is required.
• MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain is highly preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, or procurement.
• Experience in renewable energy/BESS or heavy power equipment is preferred.

Supply Chain Leader - Category Management - Global

End-to-End global procurement, sourcing, and logistics for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) panels, inverters, and grid-scale transformers.

You will negotiate long-term agreements, manage inventory, mitigate geopolitical supply risks, and collaborate with EPC and project teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Develop and execute global procurement strategies for BESS containers, power conversion systems (PCS), and medium-voltage grid transformers.
• Lead RFQs/RFPs, techno-commercial evaluations, and negotiate long-term supply agreements (LTAs) with top-tier OEMs.
• Monitor global commodity price trends (e.g., lithium, steel, copper) to optimize costs while ensuring equipment bank ability.

Supply Chain Planning & Logistics

• Oversee demand planning and end-to-end logistics, including sea, rail, and road freight for heavy/over-dimensional cargo.
• Manage international trade compliance, EXIM operations, customs clearance, and duty structures.
• Establish dual/multi-sourcing strategies and buffer-stock policies to prevent construction or manufacturing bottlenecks.

Vendor & Contract Management

• Build strong partnerships with major international and domestic suppliers and logistics service providers.
• Implement supplier scorecards to track performance metrics like On-Time In-Full (OTIF) deliveries and quality standards.
• Manage contract terms, warranty claims, and dispute resolutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with engineering, project, and finance teams to align procurement schedules with project commissioning timelines.
• Support project budgeting, cash flow tracking, and value engineering initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
• MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain is highly preferred.
• Experience: 15+ years in supply chain, strategic sourcing, or procurement within the renewable energy, BESS, or heavy power equipment sector.
• Product Knowledge: Direct experience handling Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV modules, and step-up/power transformers.
• Compliance & Logistics: Deep knowledge of international import/export regulations, customs procedures, and Free Trade Agreements.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• PMP or APICS certification is a plus.
