Job summary

Valveworks India seeks an experienced procurement professional to manage sourcing of raw materials and forged components aligned with BOM and production plans. You will analyze MRP outputs, and ensure API-compliant materials while coordinating SAP MM workflows for PR/PO, GRN, invoices, and inventory control.

Responsibilities include supplier development, cost optimization, and strict adherence to API, ASME, and ASTM standards.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years of procurement experience in Oil & Gas, Heavy Engineering, or Forging Industry.
  • Hands-on SAP MM experience.
  • Experience with forged components and raw material procurement.
  • Knowledge of API standards (e.g., API 6A, API Q1).

Responsibilities

  • Procure raw materials and forged components as per BOM and production plans.

Job description

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Procurement Operations:

Procure raw materials and forged components as per BOM and production plans.

Analyze and plan procurement based on Material Requirement Planning (MRP) outputs.

Source materials in line with API and customer specifications.

SAP Utilization-
  • Use SAP MM module for PR/PO process, GRN, invoice matching, and inventory control.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in SAP.
Supplier & Vendor Development-
  • Identify, qualify, and manage vendors for critical materials and forgings.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with required API standards and certifications.
  • Conduct vendor performance assessments and audits.
Cost Control & Optimization-
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing, negotiation, and volume leverage.
  • Monitor raw material pricing trends and plan procurement accordingly.
Inventory & Delivery Management-
  • Coordinate deliveries to ensure material availability without overstocking.
  • Work with stores and QA/QC to ensure incoming material meets API and quality standards.
Compliance & Documentation-
  • Ensure strict adherence to API, ASME, ASTM and other customer-specific standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation including MTCs, inspection reports, vendor compliance, and traceability records.
Cross-Functional Coordination-
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Planning, and Finance teams to align procurement with business needs and project timelines.
Key Skills & Competencies -
  • In-depth understanding of forging processes, materials, and specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of API standards relevant to Oil & Gas equipment (e.g., valves, manifolds, connectors).
  • Expertise in SAP MM and good command of MS Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Effective communicator with strong documentation and compliance orientation.

Experience:
  • 5to 8 years of relevant procurement experience in Oil & Gas, Heavy Engineering, or Forging Industry.
  • Strong experience in forged components, raw material procurement (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel), BOM analysis, and vendor development.
  • Hands-on experience in SAP (MM Module).
  • Working knowledge of API standards (e.g., API 6A, API Q1) applicable to Oil & Gas product manufacturing.
