Job summary

Convergix Automation Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to design, develop, and implement electrical systems and automation solutions for industrial applications. You will create schematics, select components, and ensure compliance from concept to commissioning.

The role requires strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control, and industrial automation, with hands-on experience in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 5–10 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control and automation standards.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems and power distribution for projects.
• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, SLDs, panels and interconnections.
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, cable sizing and protection coordination.
• Ensure compliance with UL508A, NEC, NFPA 70/79 and NEMA standards.
• Select components (breakers, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, sensors) and prepare BOMs.
• Support FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering and project teams to deliver solutions.
• Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare technical documentation and assist in proposal engineering.
• Maintain safety and quality standards throughout projects.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Project Engineer to design, develop, and implement electrical systems, control panels, power distribution systems, and automation solutions for industrial and commercial applications. The candidate will be responsible for creating electrical schematics, selecting components, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and supporting project execution from concept to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems, power distribution systems, and industrial automation solutions.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel layouts, and interconnection drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent tools.
• Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, and protective device coordination.
• Design industrial control panels in compliance with UL508A, NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 79, and applicable NEMA standards.
• Select and specify electrical components, including circuit breakers, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, relays, contactors, power supplies, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), I/O lists, cable schedules, and technical documentation.
• Support proposal development by providing engineering estimates and technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Controls Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Managers to deliver integrated system solutions.
• Review customer specifications and ensure design compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Support panel fabrication, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during project execution and startup.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in electrical design engineering (depending on role level).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design software.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control circuits, and industrial automation systems.
• Understanding of electrical standards and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills .

• Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).

• Knowledge of ETAP, SKM, or other electrical analysis software.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is a plus.
