Job summary

Emerson in India (Pune) is seeking a Product Development Engineer to design and develop butterfly valves, translating concepts into manufacturable hardware while addressing cost, quality, performance, and reliability.

You will collaborate with the Global Engineering team to create 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs; verify designs with hand calculations/FEA; support validation testing and certifications; and contribute to technical documentation and manuals for sales and customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in new product designs, development, and verification using GD&T, DFMEA, and engineering calculations.
• Knowledge of international standards such as ASME, API, EN, ISO (PED), BS valve standards
• Hands-on with design/certification standards like EN 12516, ASME B16.34, API 609, ISO15848, API 607
• Excellent CAD experience with Inventor, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability using machining processes; casting design is a plus
• ERP system knowledge
• Strong communication and organizational skills; multitasking across tasks
• Willingness to work hours to interact with global locations

Responsibilities

• Support sales and marketing with technical documentation such as Installation & Operating Manuals (IOMs), brochures, and Technical Data Sheets (TDS)
• Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager
• Travel: Be willing to travel to global business locations as needed

Position Summary

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for the detailed design and development of butterfly valves across a wide range of applications. This role involves transforming new product concepts into manufacturable hardware while addressing key considerations throughout all design phases, including production cost, feasibility, quality, performance, reliability, serviceability, and specialized user requirements.

The Product Development Engineer designs and improves products to meet both marketing and manufacturing requirements by applying strong engineering expertise, technical creativity, and effective problemsolving skills.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Work with the Global Engineering team and technical leads to create and review complete valve design packages, including 3D part and assembly models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and engineering Bills of Material (BOMs).

• Verify designs using hand calculations and/or FEA/CFD analysis
• Define and support validation testing
• Prepare analysis reports and equipment specifications
• Clearly communicate design details to project stakeholders such as plant engineers, test engineers, project managers, and supervisors

Prepare and maintain design documentation required for gate reviews

Prepare technical files required for product certifications applicable to the valve industry

Support sales and marketing activities by contributing to technical documentation such as Installation & Operating Manuals (IOMs), brochures, and Technical Data Sheets (TDS)

Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Proven experience of new product designs, development, hands on experience with design verification tools such as GD&T, DFMEA and engineering calculations
• Knowledge of international standards, such as ASME, API, EN, ISO (PED), BS valve standards
• Hands on experience with design/certification standards like EN 12516, ASME B16.34, API 609, ISO15848, API 607 etc.
• Excellent working experience in CAD software, such as Inventor, AutoCAD, Solidworks
• Knowledge and experience in design for manufacturability using machining processes is essential, with experience in casting design considered an advantage
• ERP system knowledge
• Strong communication skills
• Must be well organized, detail oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to work outside traditional work hours to interact with supporting locations globally

Minimum Educational Requirements:

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline
• English fluent verbal and writing, any additional language is a plus

Minimum Work Experience Required:

• Min. of 5 years related experience with min. of 2 years in the area of industrial valves
• Experience in matrix organization with skip level reporting
• Experience working with remote/global teams
