Job summary

Emerson is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead development and implementation of high performance butterfly valve technologies in a global setting. You will serve as a subject matter expert on valve component design and performance, guiding projects from concept to validation and production.

The role requires strong analytical skills, 15+ years of valve experience, and the ability to collaborate across design, testing, simulation, materials, marketing and supply chain teams worldwide.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Min. of 15 years related experience with min. of 5 years in the area of industrial valves
• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in applying engineering fundamentals to mechanical systems and developing new product concepts.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with pressure-retaining materials, material coatings, wear mechanisms, machine design, material selection, and manufacturing methods.
• Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing and multi-axis machining.
• Ability to execute the complete product development lifecycle, from customer requirements through prototype testing and production implementation.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
• Working knowledge of international engineering standards and quality systems, including ASME, API, EN, ISO, and related valve standards.
• Experience with design verification and engineering methodologies such as GD&T, DFMEA, QFD, DFM/A, Six Sigma, and engineering calculations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a global and collaborative environment.
• Flexibility to collaborate across global time zones and travel as business needs require.
  

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience in industrial valve engineering and product development.
• Experience working within matrixed organizations and global engineering teams.
• Knowledge of valve design and certification standards such as EN 12516, ASME B16.34, API 609, AWWA, ISO 15848, API 607, TSx, and SIL.
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuously improve engineering processes and products.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving, technology adoption, and organizational success.
