  • Understanding of functional/non-functional requirements, technical debt, and production support.
  • Ability to work in a complex, high-volume environment with competing priorities.
  • Understanding of agile principles, product operating models, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the domain-level Senior Product Owner for a defined area (e.g., Core, Print, or Voting).
  • Translate Product Manager strategy and roadmaps into clear direction for Product Owners and squads.
  • Support prioritization and sequencing of work across squads, including regulatory and tech debt.
  • Review requests for business value, urgency, timelines, dependencies, and governance needs.
  • Categorize and prioritize requests using agreed criteria (Critical, High, Medium, Low).
  • Align squad backlogs with domain priorities and roadmap commitments.
  • Guide Product Owners on backlog quality, requirements readiness, and dependency management.
  • Participate in key business discussions for complex/high-priority initiatives.
  • Ensure SME involvement for discovery, clarification, spikes, and validation.
  • Coordinate with Delivery Managers, Engineering leads, QA, SMEs, and Scrum Masters on constraints.
  • Maintain visibility into capacity, risks, blockers, and roadmap impacts.
  • Elevate priority conflicts and major trade-offs to the Product Manager when needed.
  • Support domain intake reviews, backlog reviews, and governance prep.
  • Provide regular domain updates on priorities, progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Coach Product Owners and, where needed, perform PO responsibilities for initiatives.

Senior Product Owner – Skills

Senior Product Owner – Roles & Responsibilities
  • 1. Act as the domain-level Senior Product Owner for a defined area, such as Core, Print, or Voting/Tabulation/Edit Load.
  • 2. Translate Product Manager strategy, roadmap priorities, and business objectives into clear direction for Product Owners and squads.
  • 3. Support prioritization and sequencing of work across squads, including discretionary initiatives, run/OCC work, lite requests, regulatory work, production support, and technical debt.
  • 4. Review incoming requests for business value, urgency, timelines, dependencies, impacted squads, capacity implications, and governance needs.
  • 5. Ensure requests are categorized and prioritized using agreed criteria, such as Critical, High, Medium, and Low.
  • 6. Work with Product Owners to align squad backlogs with domain priorities, roadmap commitments, and available capacity.
  • 7. Guide Product Owners on backlog quality, requirement readiness, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and dependency management.
  • 8. Participate in key business and refinement discussions for complex, high-priority, cross-squad, or high-risk initiatives.
  • 9. Ensure appropriate SME involvement for discovery, technical clarification, spikes, and requirement validation.
  • 10. Coordinate with Delivery Managers, Engineering leaders, QA leads, SMEs, and Scrum Masters on delivery constraints, dependencies, and sequencing impacts.
  • 11. Maintain visibility into domain-level capacity, delivery risks, blockers, resource constraints, and impacts to roadmap commitments.
  • 12. Identify and elevate priority conflicts, major trade-offs, cross-squad dependencies, and delivery risks to the Product Manager when needed.
  • 13. Support domain intake reviews, backlog reviews, prioritization discussions, and governance preparation.
  • 14. Provide regular domain-level updates on priorities, progress, risks, capacity, dependencies, and milestone impacts.
  • 15. Coach and support Product Owners; where needed, directly perform Product Owner responsibilities for specific initiatives, including gathering requirements, creating/refining stories, managing backlog items, and supporting delivery through completion.
