Job summary

Globus Coating International, based in Khopoli, is seeking an experienced Head Purchase to lead the procurement function for raw materials, packaging, consumables and CAPEX projects. You will manage vendor development, negotiate terms and drive cost savings while ensuring ERP accuracy and cross-functional collaboration with PPC, Production,Stores, Quality and Finance.

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate in procurement, supply chain, engineering, commerce or related field.
• 1015+ years of experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably in a manufacturing company.
• Experience in paper, release liner, silicone coating, adhesive, chemical, flexible packaging or similar industries will be preferred.
• Strong team management, negotiation, vendor development, strategic sourcing and cost-reduction skills.
• Strong commercial understanding and ERP knowledge.
• High level of integrity, ownership, accountability and ethical standards.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Job Description Head of Purchase

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Head Purchase to lead and manage the complete procurement function. The person will be responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost reduction, supplier management, team handling and ensuring timely availability of materials for smooth manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Purchase & Procurement

• Lead the complete purchase function for raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, engineering items, spares and other requirements.
• Ensure timely procurement as per production, PPC and inventory requirements.
• Coordinate closely with PPC, Production, Stores, Quality and Finance.
• Monitor open purchase orders, pending deliveries and critical materials.
• Ensure proper documentation, approvals and ERP transactions.
• Handle CAPEX procurement including machinery, equipment, plant and engineering requirements, vendor evaluation, commercial negotiation and timely execution.

2. Team Management & Team Handling

• Lead, manage and develop the complete Purchase team.
• Define responsibilities, targets and accountability for team members.
• Review team performance regularly and ensure timely execution of purchase activities.
• Train and mentor the team on procurement processes, negotiation, vendor management and ERP.
• Build a disciplined, responsible and performance-oriented team.

3. New Vendor Development

• Identify and develop new and alternate suppliers for key raw materials, packaging, consumables and other requirements.
• Reduce dependency on single vendors and ensure continuity of supply.
• Evaluate vendors based on quality, price, capacity, delivery, service and commercial terms.
• Coordinate with Quality and Production for vendor trials, approvals and development.
• Continuously explore new sources and competitive suppliers.

4. Cost Reduction & Strategic Sourcing

• Drive continuous cost reduction and procurement savings.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight, MOQ, lead time and other commercial conditions.
• Explore alternate suppliers, alternate materials, bulk purchasing and value-engineering opportunities.
• Regularly benchmark market prices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare and monitor monthly purchase savings and cost-reduction reports.
• Ensure cost reduction without compromising quality, production requirements or supply continuity.

5. Vendor Management

• Monitor supplier performance for quality, delivery, price and service.
• Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and take corrective actions where required.
• Develop strong professional relationships with key suppliers while maintaining proper procurement controls.
• Resolve vendor-related issues in coordination with Quality, Stores, Production and Finance.

6. Ethical Procurement & Compliance

• Ensure complete ethical, transparent and professional purchasing practices.
• Maintain zero tolerance for conflict of interest, unauthorized benefits, commissions, gifts or personal gains from vendors.
• Ensure vendor selection and negotiations are based on objective and documented criteria.
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, approval matrix and internal controls.
• Maintain confidentiality of company pricing, costing, vendor and business information.
• Ensure proper segregation of duties and maintain a complete audit trail of procurement activities.

7. Inventory & Working Capital

• Coordinate with PPC, Stores and Production to maintain optimum inventory levels.
• Avoid unnecessary purchases, overstocking and excess inventory.
• Support reduction of slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
• Improve inventory planning and working-capital efficiency.

8. ERP, MIS & Process Improvement

• Ensure accurate and timely procurement transactions in the ERP system.
• Maintain proper purchase records, vendor data and documentation.
• Develop and monitor MIS covering purchase value, savings, price variance, open PO ageing, vendor performance and material availability.
• Continuously improve procurement processes, controls and systems.

Candidate Profile
