Job summary

Boschgroup in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for automotive braking systems (2-wheeler ABS) at the Chakan plant. You will own end-to-end engineering activities and drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely production starts and cost optimization.

The role demands 8+ years in mechanical design, with 3+ years in braking systems, strong skills in FMEA, GD&T, and SAP BOM management, plus mentoring of engineers and continuous improvement on production lines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mechanical design/development experience.
• Preferably 3+ years in automotive braking systems (2 wheeler-ABS).
• Experience in component ownership, design optimization and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Resolve manufacturing issues affecting production output.
• Ensure smooth start of serial production (SOP).
• Drive design optimization, innovation, value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
• Drive reduction of quality defects and customer complaints.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) using 8D, Ishikawa, and 5-Why methods.
• Support PFMEA and process robustness activities
• Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Reduce cycle time and manufacturing losses.
• Analyze downtime and implement productivity improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives on production lines.
• Support tooling, fixtures, and process changes.
• Coordinate engineering change implementation on the shop floor
• Drive localization of components and suppliers.
• Evaluate alternative materials and suppliers.
• Support cost optimization projects and value engineering measures.
• Participate in RPP and cost-saving initiatives.
• Support plant teams in solving production and quality issues.
• Lead cross-functional discussions with Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
• Ensure rapid containment and long-term corrective actions

Responsible for Plant support at Bosch Chakan plant for Braking systems (2 wheeler-ABS) based on customer and project requirements. The role involves end-to-end topic collaboration/ ownership, timely and error-free execution of engineering activities, technical coordination, mentoring, and driving innovation and cost optimization.

Expected Experience

• 8+ years of relevant mechanical design/development experience.
• Preferably 3+ years of experience in automotive Braking systems (2 wheeler-ABS).
• Experience in component ownership, design optimization/cost reduction and mentoring engineers.
• Experience working with customer requirements and cross-functional/global teams is preferred.
