Position Overview:
The Property and Engineering Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and underwriting property and engineering insurance risks. This role involves assessing the potential risks associated with various property and engineering projects, determining appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and evaluate proposals of property and engineering risks based on detailed reports, site inspections, and technical data.
If required, seek relevant underwriting information about the risk and communicate the same with sales team, risk engineers, brokers and clients as per the requirement.
Understand and comply with underwriting guidelines for property and engineering risks.
Determine appropriate price, coverage, terms, and conditions for proposals, based on risk assessment, market conditions and company guidelines within stipulated timeline.
Monitor and manage the portfolio of underwritten risks to ensure profitability and compliance with company standards.
Market Interaction:
Communicate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information for underwriting decisions.
Provide clear explanations of coverage options, terms, and conditions to clients and stakeholders.
Policy Management:
Cooperate in booking insurance policies, endorsements, and renewals in system while maintaining standard TAT
Review and update policy documentation as required.
Collaboration and Reporting:
Prepare and present underwriting reports and maintain underwriting data in required formats.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree preferably in engineering, finance, business administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience, preferably in property and engineering insurance.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in risk assessment tools, Policy issuance system, and data analysis.
Certifications: Relevant professional certifications like Licenciate, Associate and Fellow from III are highly desirable.
