Job description

Purpose/Objective
  • Lead - Road Operations oversee the logistical coordination of transporting goods to and from ports.
  • This role involves optimizing routes, managing fleet operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing efficiency to meet logistics and business unit goals effectively.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Fleet Management: - Develop strategies to improve fleet efficiency by reducing fuel usage, cutting idle time, and optimizing routes.
  • Ensure trucks are well-maintained, repair schedules are followed, and vehicle safety standards are met to minimize downtime.
  • Cost Management and Optimization: - Manage costs for fuel, maintenance, wages, and tolls, and work on reducing operational expenses by negotiating with vendors and finding efficiencies.
  • Take lead in cost control and reduction measures through detailed and periodic performance analysis, trend analysis and period to period evaluation.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: - Analyze fleet performance metrics (like fuel use, delivery times), report to management, and identify ways to improve efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Logistics Management: - Plan routes for fuel savings and faster deliveries, and adjust schedules based on factors like traffic or weather to improve efficiency.
  • Driver Management and Performance: - Oversee driver recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Manage retention and disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Customer Service: - Oversee the quality of services provided to clients by maintaining timely and accurate delivery schedules, resolving any issues proactively, and ensuring open communication.
  • Regularly gather and analyze customer feedback to identify service gaps, opportunities for improvement, and innovative solutions.
  • Risk and Safety Compliance: - Ensure the team follows trucking regulations (e.g., hours of service, safety standards) and help reduce regulatory risks by implementing proper safety protocols.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: - Continuously analyze and improve trucking processes to boost productivity, cut costs, and introduce new technologies like fleet management systems for better tracking.
  • Digital Mindset: - Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.
  • Team Development: - Promote a respectful and safe workplace, lead collaborative and productive teams, and mentor for growth and success.
