Job summary

Schneider Electric in Kolkata seeks an experienced Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer to lead process optimization, drive Lean/Six Sigma, and set up new production lines. You will shape method improvements, ensure safety and quality, and mentor a team.

This role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, supply chain, and engineering, plus leadership of IE instruments, digital manufacturing tools, and KPI tracking to boost OEE and throughput.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, methods, or industrial engineering.
  • Education in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Process Optimization: Improve existing production processes (manual, automated, PLC-based) and design new methods & layouts.
  • Continuous Improvement (SPS / Lean): Deploy SPS, apply Lean/Six Sigma for waste reduction, productivity, quality.
  • Industrialization & NPI: Ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA), support new line setup & ramp-up, conduct feasibility studies and cost/CAPEX analyses.
  • Capacity & Production Planning Support: Manage capacity vs. workload, optimize lead time & throughput, utilize digital tools like iQ Simulation, CAMA / CORIM / Bridge.
  • Standardization & Documentation: Define work instructions, process sheets, SOPs; ensure operator training and process discipline.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead Methods/IE team, develop capabilities, drive cross-functional collaboration with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering.
  • Performance & Business Alignment: Track KPIs (OEE, productivity, scrap/rework, cost savings) and report to senior leadership.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure processes meet EHS standards and regulatory requirements; integrate safety into design.

Job description

Role Purpose

  • Lead and drive manufacturing methods, process engineering, and industrial performance.
  • Ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production systems.
  • Own continuous improvement (Lean / SPS / Six Sigma) across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing Process Optimization
  • Improve existing production processes (manual, automated, PLC-based)
  • Design and implement new manufacturing methods & layouts
  • Optimize:
    • Cycle time
    • Line balancing
    • Workstation ergonomics
2. Continuous Improvement (SPS / Lean)
  • Deploy Schneider Performance System (SPS)
  • Apply Lean / Six Sigma tools for:
    • Waste reduction
    • Productivity improvement
    • Quality enhancement
  • Lead Kaizen, SIM2, and problem‑solving initiatives
3. Industrialization & New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Ensure product manufacturability (DFM/DFA)
  • Support new line setup & ramp‑up
  • Conduct:
    • Feasibility studies
    • Cost & CAPEX analysis
  • Validate processes internally & at suppliers
4. Capacity & Production Planning Support
  • Manage capacity vs. workload balancing
  • Optimize lead time & throughput
  • Use digital tools like:
    • iQ Simulation
    • CAMA / CORIM / Bridge
5. Standardization & Documentation
  • Define and maintain:
    • Work instructions
    • Process sheets
    • SOPs
  • Ensure operator training and process discipline
6. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead Methods / Industrial Engineering team
  • Develop team capabilities (Lean, tools, problem solving)
