Summary
The Senior Manager – CBTC is apivotal leadership role within the railway signalling division,responsible for driving the strategic, technical, and operationalsuccess of Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) systems acrossmetro and urban rail networks. With 18–25 years of progressiveexperience in metro signalling, this role demands deep expertise in CBTCsystem architecture, safety-critical design, and integration acrosscomplex rail ecosystems. The incumbent will lead end-to-end CBTC projectlifecycles—from concept and design to deployment, commissioning, andhandover—ensuring compliance with international safety standards (e.g.,EN 50128, ISO 21449, SIL 4), RAMS (Reliability, Availability,Maintainability, Safety) principles, and regulatory authorityrequirements. The role involves managing cross-functional teams, leadingvendor and OEM coordination, and serving as the primary technicalauthority during safety case development, testing, and trial operations.Additionally, the Senior Manager will play a key role in businessdevelopment, contributing to tender submissions and technical proposals,while mentoring senior engineering talent to build sustainabletechnical leadership within the organization. Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, technical, and managerial leadership for all CBTC signalling projects across the portfolio.
- Leadthe end-to-end design, development, integration, and deployment of CBTCsystems, ensuring alignment with project scope, safety standards, andperformance targets.
- Oversee system integration across keyinterfaces: CBTC with rolling stock (train control systems), platformscreen doors (PSD), Operations Control Centre (OCC), and tracksideinfrastructure.
- Manage and coordinate with OEMs, systemintegrators, and third-party vendors to ensure timely delivery, qualitycompliance, and technical alignment.
- Champion thedevelopment and submission of safety cases, including hazard analysis,risk assessment, and verification/validation documentation forregulatory approval (e.g., by national rail authorities or certificationbodies).
- Lead and supervise all phases of testing,commissioning, and trial runs, ensuring robust system performance andreadiness for commercial operations.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor during system acceptance, handover, and post-implementation support.
- Contribute to business development initiatives by providing technical inputs for tenders, proposals, and client presentations.
- Mentorand develop senior engineering teams, fostering a culture ofinnovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

- Bachelor’sor Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, RailwaySignalling, or a closely related field; professional certification inrailway signalling or safety (e.g., CIE, INCOSE, or equivalent) ishighly advantageous.
- 18–25 years of progressive experiencein metro signalling, with a minimum of 10 years dedicated to CBTC systemdesign, deployment, and integration.
- Proven track record inleading large-scale, complex CBTC projects from concept tocommissioning in urban rail or metro environments.
- Deeptechnical expertise in CBTC system architecture, including ATP/ATOfunctions, wireless communication (e.g., IEEE 802.11p, LTE-M), tracksideequipment, and train-to-ground data links.
- Extensive knowledge of system safety standards (SIL 4), RAMS principles, and lifecycle management processes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and defending safety cases, including compliance with EN 50128, EN 50129, and ISO 21449.
- Strongleadership and stakeholder management skills with experience engagingwith clients, regulatory bodies, and senior executives.
- Exceptionalproject management abilities with proficiency in managingmultidisciplinary teams, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigationstrategies.
- Ability to provide expert guidance during system testing, trial operations, and acceptance processes.
- Excellentcommunication and presentation skills, with a proven ability totranslate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel internationally for project oversight, client engagements, and vendor coordination.
