Role Summary

This job takes the lead in providing more complex application development services typically as part of a project team or in an application support role. Developers provide general support to maintain more complex applications that meet the service levels, system availability, performance and quality levels required by their customers. May mentor less experienced team members.

Essential Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing technical support to business analyst and customer Participation in related system development projects of moderate to complex nature
• Responsible for providing system maintenance & enhancements and running & protecting the business by providing support for critical Risk applications.
• Takes a lead role for analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing more complex application enhancements, as well as providing general production support, meeting defined scope, target dates and budgets with minimal or no defects.
• Takes a lead role in collaborating with customers, business analysts, partners, and IT team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Concentrates on providing innovative solutions to more complex business needs.
• Takes a lead role in providing required technical support, including release time support, on-call and 24x7 supports when necessary.
• Performs work in compliance with all IT standards, policies and procedures.
• Actively takes a leading role and participates on project teams in various project roles, including, but not limited to, Developer, Technical Lead and Project Manager, based upon level of experience.
• Effectively communicates with team members, customers, partners and management, including assisting with or conducting more complex technical walkthroughs, reporting project status, enabling vendor solutions and providing accurate and concise documentation.

• 6.5 + years of experience hands on experience as Mainframe Application development / Automation
• Tech Skill Set: Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, VSAM, REXX and Easytrieve programming languages
• Experience with Project Management tools
• Experience with databases
• Experience with multiple coding languages
• Ensuring Quality delivery of your code to dev, UAT and PROD environments with document software programs for efficient and reliable mainframe operations
• Excellent Communication Skills and client & team management skills.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Create and modify automated scripts and utilities using REXX automation for enhanced productivity and efficiency.
• Utilize Easytrieve to extract and manipulate data from various mainframe data sources.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mainframe applications, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Perform system analysis and performance tuning to optimize mainframe application performance.
• Collaborate with database administrators to ensure smooth integration of mainframe applications with IMS DB
• Participate in the development and maintenance of IMS DB and DC applications, including database design, coding, and testing.
• Ensure compliance with established coding standards, version control procedures, and software development best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers and team members.
• Stay updated with the latest mainframe technologies and trends, including advancements in REXX, Easytrieve, and IMS DB/DC
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and leveraging Easyretrieve for data extraction and reporting.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mainframe applications, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Problem solving, root cause analysis, and issue resolution.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Experience with technology platforms, application development tools, business processes, software development life cycle used by Enterprise Org
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and leveraging Easyretrieve for data extraction and reporting.
