Deutsche Telekom Digital Labs is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer for the ICB Hub in Gurgaon, India. The role requires 10–12 years of Java development experience, with strong expertise in Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, and scalable backend architectures.

You will lead design, development, and delivery of customer-facing services, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate with product, design, data, and platform teams to ship high-quality software at scale.

What exactly is the objective of this role?

We're looking for a Senior Lead Engineer to join ICB Hub. This role suits someone with around 10 to 12 years of relevant experience.

What will be my Key Responsibilities?

• 10 to 12 years of relevant experience
• Develop high-quality software design and architecture for Java-based applications.
• Implement and maintain Java applications, collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.Design, develop and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code.
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
• Design, build, and operate scalable, secure backend services and APIs that power customer-facing products used by millions.
• Own features end to end, from design and implementation to testing, release, and production support, with a strong sense of quality and ownership.
• Contribute to system design by defining service boundaries, data models, and API contracts that are simple, reliable, and easy to evolve.
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and take part in thoughtful code and design reviews.
• Improve reliability and performance through monitoring, alerting, load testing, and root-cause analysis of incidents.
• Collaborate with product, design, data, and platform teams to turn customer problems into shipped outcomes.
• Use AI coding assistants and agents day to day to ship faster, and help the team raise its AI-first engineering practices.
• Set direction and standards across multiple teams, and act as the go-to expert others rely on for hard problems.
• Mentor and grow senior colleagues, and multiply the output of the teams around you.
• Hands-on expertise in 11-13 years of experience in Java development with expertise in Springboot
• Hands-on expertise in Microservices, High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), Java streams, multithreading
• Hands-on expertise in AWS

What will be nice to have?

• Familiarity with Telecommunications or contact-center domain experience — IVR, CCaaS, routing, agent desktop.A forward-deployed or solutions-engineering background, and where engineers are embedded in the customer's environment to deliver an outcome.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency consumer platforms.
• Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs or AI agents.
• Open-source contributions, technical writing, or conference talks.
