Job summary

Vankar Interiors is seeking an interior designer to balance artistic vision with technical execution for commercial and residential spaces. You will translate briefs into concepts, create mood boards, and produce detailed design drawings using CAD tools.

You will collaborate with clients, ensure building code compliance, manage timelines and budgets, and coordinate with vendors and contractors to bring designs to life in Bengaluru and beyond.

Technical & Hard Skills

• Develop design concepts, mood boards, and presentations for commercial projects.
• Create detailed designs using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other software tools.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Manage project timelines and budgets.

• CAD & 3D Modeling: Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Rhino for drafting and spatial planning.
• Visualization & Rendering: Creating photorealistic 3D renders using tools like V-Ray, Enscape, 3ds Max, or Lumion.
• Building Codes & Compliance: Knowledge of local building regulations, life safety, egress requirements, and ADA/accessibility standards.
• Construction Documentation: Drafting detailed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) coordination plans, lighting layouts, and custom joinery/millwork drawings.
• FF&E Specification: Knowledge of commercial and residential furniture, fabrics, materials, finishes, lighting, and custom furniture construction.
• Space Planning: Optimizing floor plans for traffic flow, ergonomics, spatial efficiency, and functional zoning.

Creative & Concept Skills

• Conceptualization: Translating client briefs into cohesive design directions, mood boards, and thematic storyboards.
• Color Theory & Materiality: Understanding how light, color palettes, textures, and material performance interact within a space.
• Lighting Design: Designing layered ambient, task, and accent lighting plans tailored to functional needs and mood.

Project Management & Professional Skills

• Budgeting & Cost Control: Estimating project costs, managing FF&E budgets, and conducting value engineering when needed.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinating with general contractors, sub-trades, craftsmen, and commercial suppliers.
• Site Supervision: Conducting field measurements, reviewing shop drawings, managing RFIs, and performing punch-list site inspections.
