Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Highway Design Engineer to join the Pune office. The role involves leading highway design delivery, mentoring teams, coordinating with clients, and ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, and quality targets. International project exposure is preferred.

The candidate should have 10+ years in civil highway design, proficiency in Civil3D and related tools, and the ability to work with senior staff across disciplines. Regular travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or higher with 10+ years in design and documentation of roadway projects.
• Experience with international projects (North America/UK/ANZ) is required.
• Knowledge of Open Roads and related software tools is essential.

Stantec is looking for a Principal Highway Design Engineer that can be a part of our growing team in Pune office. Your Key Responsibilities

• Produce and review design solutions from outline briefs, correctly interpret data and effectively communicate to others.
• Manage the design and drafting team(s) allocated on projects.
• Training and mentoring staff, proposal preparation, project presentation, project management and budget management.
• Check design and assessment calculations and review detailed drawings.
• Work on multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision.
• Ensure delivery of project in accordance with quality, timescales, and budget.
• Produce and reviews designs, drawings and budgets to ensure that technical designs will provide appropriate solution and budgets will be met.
• Plan, program, co-ordinate project teams and tasks.
• Exercise quality control of team deliverables.
• Maintain communication and develop ongoing contacts with clients as required.
• Maintain records of all reports/drawings/documents.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in the consulting and engineering industry after graduate education, technical knowledge of road design in Open Roads.
• Civil3D and / or Inroads and/or 12D knowledge is a plus.
• Good knowledge of all aspects of technical standards and design codes such as AASHTO, Austroads, DMRB.
• Design delivery in Open Roads on international projects is a must.
• Ability to take decisions independently and take directions from Seniors.
• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
• Effective communicator and able to work under tight schedule
• Competent level of client service management, i.e.: able to interface with clients and to build and maintain lasting, positive relationships with our clients.
• Strong organizational and problem resolutions skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, technical specialists
• Mentoring and providing guidance to the team.

Education and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Master’s degree in Highway/Transportation Engineering with 10+ years of experience in design and documentation of roadway/highway projects. Experience on international projects and particularly North American/UK/ANZ projects is a must.
• Software Skills: 3. Knowledge of and project delivery in Open Roads is a must. Knowledge of Civil 3D and/or 12D is a plus. Infraworks/Navisworks experience is a plus.
• AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of International Roadway Design Standards (AASHTO, DMRB, Austroads or similar).
