Job summary

AU Small Finance Bank Limited seeks an experienced Senior Gold Appraiser - Gold Loan to lead valuation of gold assets within Operations and Services. This role requires expertise in gold quality assessment, market valuation, and risk mitigation for the bank's gold loan portfolio.

The incumbent will ensure accurate and timely appraisals of gold collateral, adhering to regulatory standards and internal policies while guiding junior appraisers and coordinating with credit, risk, and branch

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or related field.
• Certification in gemology or precious metals appraisal desirable.
• 7+ years of gold appraisal experience in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precise and comprehensive appraisal of gold jewelry and bullion to determine market value for loan sanctioning purposes.
• Lead and mentor a team of junior appraisers, ensuring standardized procedures and quality benchmarks.
• Stay updated with current gold market trends, price fluctuations, and regulatory changes impacting valuations.
• Collaborate with credit and risk management to assess collateral quality and mitigate loan risks.
• Maintain detailed records of appraisals, including photographs, weight, purity, and valuation reports for audits.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and discrepancies in gold asset evaluation.
• Coordinate with branch operations to streamline appraisal processes and improve turnaround times for disbursals.
• Provide guidance during internal and external audits related to gold valuation and loan documentation.
• Develop and update appraisal guidelines and training materials to enhance team competency.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory frameworks governing gold loan operations.
