Job summary

AU Small Finance Bank Limited invites a meticulous Gold Appraiser to join our Operations and Services team. You will assess gold collateral for loan processing, verify purity and weight, and document valuations with photos and reports.

The role requires a solid understanding of gold markets, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with loan officers to ensure accurate loan amounts and secure disbursements. Prior experience in banking or jewelry valuation is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Finance; gemology or precious metals appraisal certification desirable.
3–5 years of gold appraisal/valuation experience in financial services or jewelry; banking environment preferred.
Prior experience in banking or jewellery valuation is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough physical inspection and verification of gold items submitted as collateral for loan processing, ensuring authenticity and purity.
Evaluate the market value of gold based on current rates, weight, and quality to determine loan eligibility and amount.
Maintain detailed records of appraisals, including photographs, descriptions, and valuation reports, adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with loan officers and operations teams to facilitate smooth processing of gold-backed loans, providing expert advice on valuation matters.
Stay updated with fluctuations in gold market prices and industry trends to provide accurate and timely appraisals.
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory guidelines related to gold appraisal and loan disbursement.
Identify and report any discrepancies or suspicious activities related to gold collateral to the appropriate authorities within the bank.
Participate in periodic audits and quality checks to maintain appraisal accuracy and operational integrity.
Train and mentor junior staff on gold appraisal techniques and operational procedures to enhance team capability.
