AU Small Finance Bank Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Gold Appraiser - Gold Loan to lead valuation and appraisal of gold assets within our Operations and Services department. The role requires expert assessment of purity, weight, and market value, with a focus on accurate loan underwriting and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with credit and risk teams to support secure lending decisions, mentor junior staff, and stay updated on gold market trends.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field; certification in gemology or precious metals appraisal is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in gold appraisal within the financial services or banking sector, preferably with exposure to gold loan operations.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough and precise appraisal of gold jewelry and bullion to determine purity, weight, and market value in alignment with industry standards.
Verify authenticity and quality of gold items using advanced testing methods and tools to prevent fraud and ensure accurate loan underwriting.
Collaborate with credit and risk management teams to provide reliable valuation reports that support loan sanctioning and risk assessment processes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of gold market trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes impacting gold loan operations.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, RBI guidelines, and other regulatory requirements related to gold appraisal and loan processing.
Train and mentor junior appraisers and operations staff on gold valuation techniques, quality control, and compliance protocols.
Manage documentation and record-keeping for all appraisals, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
Coordinate with branch and regional teams to streamline appraisal processes and improve turnaround times for gold loan disbursements.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with gold valuation discrepancies and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Participate in periodic audits and inspections to validate appraisal accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.
