Job summary

AU Small Finance Bank Limited seeks an experienced Senior Gold Appraiser to lead the valuation and appraisal of gold assets within our Operations and Services department. The role supports the bank's gold loan portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely assessment of gold collateral and aiding risk mitigation and compliance.

The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of gold valuation standards, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to uphold regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Gemology, or a related field; certification in gold appraisal or gemology is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in gold appraisal within the financial services sector, preferably in gold loan operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precise and comprehensive appraisal of gold items submitted as collateral for gold loans, ensuring adherence to industry standards and bank policies.
• Evaluate the purity, weight, and market value of gold assets using testing methods and tools to determine accurate loan eligibility.
• Collaborate with credit and risk management teams to provide timely valuation reports supporting loan sanctioning decisions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of gold market trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes impacting gold loan operations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal audit requirements related to gold appraisal and loan processing.
• Train and mentor junior appraisers and operations staff on valuation techniques and quality control.
• Implement and continuously improve appraisal processes to enhance accuracy and reduce turnaround time.
• Coordinate with branch and regional teams to resolve discrepancies in gold valuation and support customer inquiries.
