Job summary

SANMINA-SCI TECHNOLOGY INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED seeks a Firmware Engineer (8–12 yrs) to lead Open-BMC distributions for hyper-scale hardware, including hardware abstraction layers and D‑Bus interfaces.

Role emphasizes collaboration with hardware and systems teams to define firmware requirements for OCP-compliant servers, drive CI/CD, and support production with debugging and telemetry.

Candidates should have strong C/C++, RTOS, Open-BMC exp, U-Boot, Secure Boot, and server hardware knowledge.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/BE/BTech or ME/MTech in EE, CS or CE with 8–12 years in firmware.
• Strong knowledge of Embedded SW in C/C++, RTOS, and robust debugging.
• Embedded programming for multi-thread architectures and board bring up.
• Cloud-scale tooling: Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Docker for builds.
• Hardware bring-up with Aspeed AST2500/AST2600; low-level debugging (JTAG).
• BMC rebranding, BIOS configuration and FPGA Linux IPC knowledge.
• Web scripting and test automation experience.
• Hyperscale shipping firmware for data-centre products.
• Open-Source Open-BMC experience preferred.
• Server architecture: CPUs/GPUs/NVMe know-how.
• Security protocols: Cerberus/Titan or similar.
• Strong communication for industry forums and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

Firmware Engineer 4

Duties of Position: (Include specific duties and responsibilities)

The Person Should Perform The Following In His Role

• Architect Open BMC Solutions: Lead the design and implementation of Open-BMC distributions tailored for hyper scale hardware, including hardware abstraction layers

and D-Bus interfaces.

• Hyper scale Collaboration: Partner with Hardware and Systems teams to define firmware requirements for OCP (Open Compute Project) compliant servers and storage

enclosures.

• Modern CI/CD Integration: Drive automated testing and continuous integration workflows for firmware, ensuring high-velocity deployments without sacrificing stability.
• Security & Root of Trust: Implement and maintain platform security features, including Secure Boot and hardware Root of Trust (RoT) integration.
• Full-Stack Ownership: Manage firmware development from low-level boot loaders (U-Boot) to high-level management APIs (Redfish/gRPC).
• Production Support: Provide expert-level debugging for critical issues identified in hyper scale data centres, utilizing remote telemetry and crash dump analysis.
• Participate in firmware code development and code review process
• Provide weekly status updates to key stake-holders on development status

Qualifications Required: (Education, experience, skills, etc. Please be specific)

BS/MS/BE/BTech or ME/MTech in EE, CS, or CE with 8 to 12 years of relevant firmware experience.

• Sound knowledge of Embedded SW in C, C++, Real Time OS. Strong debugging skills, working with new/existing, complex code base
• Embedded programming experience for multi-thread architectures involving multiple processes, Board bring up
• Cloud-Scale Tooling: Experience with Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, and containerization (Docker) for firmware build environments.
• Hardware Bring-up: Experience with Aspeed AST2500/AST2600 (the industry- standard BMC chips) and low-level debugging using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• BMC rebranding, BIOS configuration, integration, Knowledge in FPGA Linux Socket programming and IPC, Shell scripting
• Knowledge and development experience in Web scripting, test Automation
• Hyperscale Experience: Proven track record of shipping firmware for Hyper-scalar data centre products (AWS, Azure, Meta, or Tier 1 OEMs).
• Open-Source: Strong history of working with Open-BMC; experience replacing proprietary stacks (AMI, Avocent) with open-source alternatives is highly preferred.
• Server Architecture: Comprehensive understanding of modern server topology, including CPUs (Intel/AMD), GPUs, and NVMe storage.
• Security Expertise: Experience implementing Cerberus, Titan, or similar hardware security protocols.
• Communication: Ability to represent the company in industry forums (OCP) and collaborate with geographically distributed open-source contributors.
