Job description

Senior Finance Manager

Location: Mumbai | Employment Type: Full-time | Experience: 4-8 years

About the Company:

We are a publicly listed, tech-first NBFC that partners with fintechs to power digital lending across India. We are also building and scaling a digital personal loan platform. As the business grows, we are strengthening finance operations, financial reporting, controllership, compliance and business finance.

This is a high-ownership finance role, working closely with leadership, auditors, banking partners and internal teams. The role will also involve managing and mentoring members of the finance team.

What Youll Do:
  • Own and oversee finance operations across accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, controllership and compliance.
  • Prepare MIS, management summaries, board presentation inputs and quarterly / annual financial reporting.
  • Review accounting entries, reconciliations, compliance filings and finance MIS prepared by the team.
  • Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors, bankers, regulators and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable RBI, SEBI, GST, TDS and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor monthly income and costs against budgets and provide actionable financial insights.
  • Track investments, returns and financial performance against internal targets.
  • Support business finance activities, including profitability, portfolio performance and key operating metrics.
  • Work closely with product, risk, collections, business, credit, operations and technology teams to provide financial inputs and operational insights.
  • Manage partner reconciliations, including per-loan-level principal and income matching.
  • Coordinate with partner accounts teams to resolve reconciliation, tax and process-related issues.
  • Work closely with FLDG / lending partnership teams on financial processes and reporting.
  • Support financial due diligence of potential partners and business opportunities.
  • Participate in onboarding of new partners and implementation of financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen finance controls, reporting systems, processes and operational efficiency.
  • Manage, delegate and review work performed by junior accountants and finance team members.
  • Mentor the finance team and ensure timely, accurate and high-quality execution.
What Were Looking For:

We are capability- and experience-driven rather than qualification-driven. CA is not mandatory. We are open to strong MBA Finance and other relevant finance profiles.

We are looking for someone with broad finance exposure rather than someone who has worked only in one specific area such as Treasury, GST or Tax.

Ideally, the candidate will have exposure across several of the following:
  • Financial reporting and MIS
  • Accounting and controllership
  • Finance operations and reconciliations
  • Audit and regulatory compliance
  • RBI / SEBI / GST / TDS
  • Budgeting and financial performance management
  • Business finance
  • ECL / lending-related finance
  • Overall finance management
  • Process and internal controls
  • Team management and stakeholder management
Lending / NBFC Exposure:
  • Experience in an NBFC, fintech, lending or financial services environment is preferred.
  • Exposure to digital lending, unsecured personal loans, STPL, FLDG, co-lending or lending partnerships is a strong plus.
  • Lending / STPL experience is not a hard filter. Candidates with strong, broad finance profiles should be considered even if direct lending exposure is limited.
How We Will Assess Candidates:
  • Breadth of finance exposure
  • Depth and quality of experience
  • Scope of responsibilities and ownership
  • Financial reporting and controllership experience
  • Accounting, compliance and audit exposure
  • Business finance understanding
  • Lending / ECL exposure where relevant
  • Ability to work across multiple stakeholders
  • Team management and mentoring experience
  • Career stability and progression
  • Ability to operate in a high-ownership environment

Strong candidates should not be ruled out because they are missing one or two requirements if their overall finance experience is highly relevant.

Target Company Approach:

Candidates from the target company list will be prioritised. At the same time, strong candidates from outside the target list should also be considered where they demonstrate an exceptionally strong overall finance profile, relevant depth and breadth of experience.

Good to Have:
  • Experience in unsecured digital lending / personal loans / NBFC finance
  • Exposure to ECL and lending-related accounting / reporting
  • Experience with FLDG / co-lending / lending partnerships
  • Finance automation, dashboards or AI-enabled finance tools
  • Experience scaling finance processes in a growing organisation
What Success Looks Like:
  • Finance operations and reconciliations run smoothly with minimal escalations.
  • Financial reporting, audits and compliance are timely and well managed.
  • Accounting and controllership processes are accurate and robust.
  • Finance controls and reporting systems scale effectively with business growth.
  • The business has strong visibility into profitability, portfolio performance and key financial metrics.
  • Leadership receives timely, accurate and actionable financial insights.
  • Partner and per-loan-level reconciliations are well controlled.
  • Junior finance team members execute efficiently under clear guidance and processes.
Why Join Us?:
  • Work directly with the founders and leadership team.
  • Opportunity to operate at the intersection of finance, technology and digital lending.
  • High ownership and direct business impact.
  • Exposure to a growing business with the stability of a listed company.
  • Strong learning curve and opportunity to build scalable finance processes.
  • Fast-paced, collaborative environment that values ownership, innovation and execution.

If you are a broad-based finance professional who wants to take ownership of a growing finance function, we would like to hear from you, even if your background does not match every requirement listed above.
