Job summary

Head of Finance

Location: Mumbai

Experience: 9 to 15 years

Industry: NBFC / Consumer Lending / Financial Services

Reporting to: Founder & Executive Director / CEO

Key Responsibilities:

Treasury, Fundraising & ALM:

• Own the company’s overall treasury strategy and liquidity management.
• Lead relationships with banks, financial institutions, debt investors and other funding partners.
• Drive debt fundraising across bank borrowings, NCDs, Commercial Paper and other structured funding avenues.
• Develop and optimise the company’s liability profile and cost of funds.
• Drive ALM, liquidity planning and capital allocation.
• Evaluate and develop opportunities around securitisation, co-lending and other structured finance transactions.
• Work closely with rating agencies and lenders to strengthen the company’s credit profile.

Finance & Controllership:

• Lead financial reporting, accounting, MIS, budgeting and forecasting.
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance and audit processes.
• Strengthen finance processes and systems as the organisation scales.
• Drive profitability analysis, cost optimisation and business performance reviews.
• Ensure appropriate application of Ind AS, including Ind AS 109, ECL and related NBFC accounting requirements.

Regulatory & Risk Governance:

• Ensure timely and accurate RBI and other regulatory reporting.
• Strengthen financial governance, internal controls and compliance frameworks.
• Partner with Risk, Credit, Operations and Business teams on financial and portfolio-related matters.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring of capital adequacy, liquidity and other key financial metrics.

Investor & Board Management:

• Lead financial reporting and communication with investors and lenders.
• Prepare and present financial and business performance updates to the Board and senior leadership.
• Support fundraising discussions, due diligence and investor interactions.
• Work closely with the Founder and CEO on strategic financial decisions.

Leadership:

• Build and lead a strong finance organisation across controllership, FP&A, treasury and regulatory finance.
• Develop a scalable finance operating model suited to a rapidly growing NBFC.
• Act as a strategic finance partner to the Founder and CEO.
• Build a culture of ownership, discipline, transparency and data-driven decision-making.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Chartered Accountant with 9-15 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience in an NBFC, consumer finance, vehicle finance, fintech lending or related financial-services business.
• Strong exposure to treasury, ALM, debt fundraising and lender relationships.
• Experience across bank borrowing, NCDs, Commercial Paper, securitisation and/or co-lending will be highly valued.
• Strong understanding of Ind AS 109, ECL and NBFC financial reporting.
• Experience working with rating agencies, lenders, investors and auditors.
• Strong understanding of RBI regulatory requirements and financial governance.
• Demonstrated experience in building or scaling finance teams and processes.
• Strong commercial orientation with the ability to connect finance with business growth and profitability.
• Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills.
