Qualifications

• ME/MTech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory) with 8-12 years of hands-on FEA/CAE experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise with FEA/CAE tools such as HyperMesh/HyperWorks, Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; ability to collaborate with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute linear/non-linear static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal, and durability FEA on components and assemblies.
• Interpret results, identify failure modes, and recommend design changes to improve strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and manufacturability.
• Correlate simulation predictions with physical test data and refine modelling assumptions to improve accuracy.
• Develop and continuously fine-tune FEA methodologies, using test data correlation to achieve realistic, reliable simulation results.
• Support DFMEA, design reviews, and root-cause investigations with simulation-based evidence.
• Prepare clear, well-documented analysis reports and present findings to cross-functional and global stakeholders.
• Mentor junior CAE engineers, review their models and reports, and drive best-practice and process standardization across the FEA function.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams (US/Europe) to support new product development and cost/design optimization programs.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Southco India's Global Capability Center (GCC) is looking for a Senior FEA Engineer in the FEA team to perform structural, thermal, and durability simulation work supporting global product development programs. The role owns FEA execution end-to-end - from pre-processing through analysis, correlation, and reporting - and works closely with design, testing, and manufacturing teams across geographies to deliver robust, cost-optimized product designs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and execute linear/non-linear static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal, and durability FEA on components and assemblies.
• Interpret results, identify failure modes, and recommend design changes to improve strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and manufacturability.
• Correlate simulation predictions with physical test data and refine modelling assumptions to improve accuracy.
• Develop and continuously fine-tune FEA methodologies, using test data correlation to achieve realistic, reliable simulation results.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• ME/MTech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory), with 8-12 years of hands-on FEA/CAE experience, ideally in precision mechanisms development in automotive/off highway/industrial equipment preferably an MNC.
• Strong hands-on expertise with FEA/CAE tools such as Hyper mesh/Hyper Works, Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of any CAD tools such as UG NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA for model idealization and design collaboration.
• Solid understanding of material behavior (metals and plastics), fatigue/durability principles, and manufacturing processes (stamping, casting, injection Moulding).
• Experience in developing simulation methodologies, correlating FEA results with physical/lab test data and fine-tuning simulations models to improve accuracy of the results, will be preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proven ability to work in close collaboration with global, cross-functional teams.
• Prior experience mentoring CAE/FEA engineers is preferred.
• Experience in NVH and Fatigue (durability) analysis is an added advantage.
