Job summary

Asian Paints Limited in Tamil Nadu seeks a Safety Officer to lead plant safety operations, enforce health and safety standards, and drive continuous improvement of safety practices. You will perform safety inspections, manage permits to work, conduct drills and training, investigate incidents, and ensure ISO 45001:2018 compliance while safeguarding workers.

Responsibilities

• Involving in the day-to-day operational of the plant and ensure health and safety standard within the operation under the control
• Carrying out plant safety inspections to observe the physical conditions of work and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to render advise on measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers
• Advise on safety aspects in all job studies and to carryout detailed job safety studies of selected jobs
• Monitor Safety leading and lagging indicators and identify the action plan to achieve the targets
• Analysis of safety observations, incident, near miss trends, dangerous occurrences, Occupational health diseases and work out action plan and maintain records
• Timely investigation of all incidents, near miss, dangerous occurrences, and track for compliance of recommendations closure
• Conduct Toolbox meeting and monthly safety committee meeting and ensure implementation of identified meeting output points.
• Drives basic systems like Permit to work, Fire Safety, Electrical safety and chemical safety
• Facilitate various plant Statutory and Non-Statutory safety inspection, Audit and ensuring compliances
• Design and conduct either independently or in collaboration with the training department, suitable training, and educational program for the prevention of personal injuries and for the propagation of safety awareness.
• Maintaining the emergency handling facilities like Fire hydrant system, Water sprinkler system, Fire extinguishers, Eye showers and Full body showers, SCBA and ELBA
• Conducting the periodic Mock drills and Emergency Rescue Training
• Supporting OHC to comply legal requirements and ensuring the Welfare and first-aid provision
• Documentation of ISO 45001:2018 requirements
• Ensuring availability of high quality and standard personal protective equipment
• Organizing in association with the concerned departments/ campaigns, competitions, contests, and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedure
