Job summary

Ultramarine & Pigments is seeking a Safety Officer to implement site safety plans, conduct inspections, lead incident investigations, and organize training and drills. The role involves coordinating safety committees and ensuring hazard communication across operations.

You will ensure compliance with local labor and OHS laws, monitor KPI metrics, and oversee Permit-to-Work, electrical safety, fire protection, and PPE programs at the site.

Responsibilities

• Policy & Plan Implementation: Develop, maintain, and execute site safety plans, hazard communication, and SOPs.
• Inspections & Audits: Conduct workplace, machinery, and facility inspections plus ISO 45001 audits.
• Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause investigations and track CAPA to completion.
• Training & Drills: Organise safety inductions, toolbox talks, monthly safety committee meetings, fire drills, and emergency programs.
• Compliance & Reporting: Monitor local labor and OHS laws, manage worker's compensation/incident records, and submit safety KPI metrics to management.
• System Controls: Oversee core safety protocols including Permit-to-Work (PTW), electrical safety, fire protection, and PPE compliance.

• Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular workplace, machinery, and facility inspections, alongside statutory and non-statutory safety audits (e.g., ISO 45001).
• Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause investigations for accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences, then track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to completion.
• Training & Drills: Organise and lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, monthly safety committee meetings, fire drills, and emergency preparedness programs.
• Compliance & Reporting: Monitor adherence to local labor and OHS laws, manage worker's compensation/incident records, and submit safety KPI metrics to management.
• System Controls: Oversee core safety protocols including Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, electrical safety, fire protection, and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance.
