Job summary

Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems is seeking an experienced Safety Lead to oversee industrial safety within our manufacturing plant in India. You will design and enforce safety procedures, lead risk assessments, and drive incident investigations to prevent recurrence.

The role requires hands-on safety inspections, training, and audits, with a strong focus on ISO, fire safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 34 years of experience in industrial safety, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial plant.
• Hands-on experience in safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.
• Knowledge of statutory safety regulations, fire safety, and ISO management systems.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to monitor high-risk operations and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement safety procedures, policies, and guidelines.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification (HIRA/JSA).
• Perform regular safety inspections and audits.
• Investigate workplace incidents and prepare reports.
• Monitor compliance with the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system.
• Conduct safety training, mock drills, and awareness programs.
• Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE.
• Maintain safety records and prepare weekly and monthly reports.
• Monitor high-risk activities, including equipment testing, confined space work, hot work, lifting operations, and work at height.
• Conduct safety committee meetings and participate in Management of Change (MOC) meetings.
• Ensure compliance with factory regulations, fire safety requirements, ISO systems, and other statutory requirements.
