Job description

• Function as a senior engineering technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisor
• Address complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline
• Develop innovative engineering solutions
• Create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables using digital design tools
• Communicate and set appropriate design and graphic standards
• Review project requirements and determine deliverable formats and contents
• Promote quality and ensure consistency and compliance with project codes and standards
• Contribute to guides, standards, process improvement, and change management activities
• Maintain drawing control and historical records
• Develop complex design concepts and deliverables
• Make judgments regarding deliverables and input interpretation
• Coordinate presentations and delegate production design or electronic applications
• Monitor production for deliverable consistency, budget, and schedule
• Potentially program control systems or participate in plant start-up activities
• Coordinate with design group personnel and exchange project information
• Support field activities as needed
• Identify client interests and drivers and communicate them to project teams
• Assist management with design standards and process improvement activities
• Identify training and development needs and participate in training efforts
• Make presentations and conduct training classes in a specialized area

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
• Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
• Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience
• Advanced technical expertise in electrical engineering design and technical documentation
• Experience with CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools
• Ability to apply engineering principles and established design practices
• Ability to perform design calculations, detailed material quantities, and estimates
• Ability to review deliverables and provide technical guidance
• Ability to work with project codes, standards, budgets, and schedules
• Ability to complete pre-employment requirements, which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search
• Ability to communicate design requirements, progress, and schedules
• Ability to provide consultation, training, and oversight to engineering technicians
