Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems for oil and gas and renewable energy projects in Chennai. You will participate in conceptual studies, FEED, and design execution, and you will prepare layouts, SLDs, and interconnections with minimal supervision.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of relevant experience, a BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering, and strong proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 3D tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
• 7 years of related experience; average experience of 10+ years.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, specifically Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word.
• Diploma (Full Time) / Degree (Part Time) in Electrical Engineering.
• Good understanding of electrical concepts and 3-phase power calculations.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Preferred: Experience managing a small/medium team of designers.
• Preferred: Experience working in a multicultural environment.
• Preferred: Ability to provide effective training to young designers in 2D/3D tools.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for oil and gas and renewable energy industries.
• Participate in conceptual studies, FEED, or design execution projects.
• Support procurement of equipment and preparation of detailed drawings for facility construction and commissioning.
• Perform drafting and design activities using AutoCAD/MicroStation.
• Draft SLDs and schematics with engineer support.
• Prepare electrical layouts independently, managing interdisciplinary interfaces.
• Prepare design/construction standards with minimal support.
• Model cable trays, light fixtures, and other electrical items in E3D/S3D.
• Prepare substation equipment and cable tray layouts with minimal supervisor support.
• Prepare electrical bulk material quantities independently.
• Use NavisWorks/SmartPlant Review tools.
• Implement client requirements and applicable local/international electrical codes and standards.
• Prepare project drawing lists based on scope of work.
• Finalize templates and contents for electrical layouts according to client/contract requirements.
• Implement quality system requirements.
