This Director-level role provides strategic and operational leadership for Philips Cardiology Informatics R&D, with accountability for software engineering leadership, cloud-enabled product development, service and cloud operations, and lifecycle ownership of a large, regulated healthcare customer install base. The role is responsible for leading diverse and globally connected teams, aligning execution with business priorities, and ensuring that product creation, operational excellence, quality, regulatory expectations, and customer outcomes are delivered at scale.

Role Purpose

The leader will drive cloud operations and R&D execution for cardiology solutions, including AWS-based cloud platforms and services, while maintaining a strong focus on healthcare-regulated product delivery, customer reliability, and operational continuity for an install base of up to approximately 5,000 B2B healthcare customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead software R&D and cloud operations teams across cardiology informatics portfolios, ensuring cohesive execution across functions, sites, and global stakeholders.
  • Own operational performance for cloud-driven products and services, including reliability, scalability, service continuity, incident response, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and maintain a healthcare-regulated B2B customer install base of up to approximately 5,000 customers, ensuring high levels of customer trust, compliance, availability, and responsiveness.
  • Translate business goals, customer and market needs, and technical strategy into multi-year execution plans aligned with Health Suite Reference Architecture, cloud, DevOps, and platform modernization priorities.
  • Provide oversight for planning, staffing, budgeting, expense prioritization, resource allocation, and execution governance across teams and programs.
  • Influence product creation, software development processes, architecture decisions, and engineering practices to improve efficiency, quality, security, and regulatory readiness.
  • Serve as a senior R&D liaison with service, operations, quality, regulatory, commercial, and external stakeholder organizations to drive business outcomes and customer value.
  • Lead talent management, succession planning, performance management, and leadership development for subordinate managers, architects, and technical leaders.
  • Contribute to 2-3-year operational planning and the 5-year Strategic Plan of Record, shaping long-term objectives and adapting strategy to evolving business and customer needs.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum 18+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent senior leadership experience with a Master’s degree, in software development, software design and architecture, testing, quality assurance, cloud operations, or regulated product development.
  • Minimum 8+ years of working experience in the healthcare domain is required.
Primary Requirements
  • Proven experience successfully leading cloud teams, preferably AWS-based, with strong understanding of cloud-native engineering, service operations, R&D architecture, and DevOps operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to run cloud-driven development and customer-facing operations in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Experience delivering, managing, and sustaining a large B2B healthcare customer install base, up to approximately 5,000 customers.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, quality management expectations, FDA/MDR audit readiness, and software lifecycle controls for regulated medical or healthcare solutions.
  • Domain exposure to cardiology and/or radiology workflows, clinical informatics, hospital operations, or adjacent healthcare technology environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or an equivalent technical or engineering discipline is preferred.
Preferred Skills and Capabilities
  • Software Development Life Cycle leadership, including agile execution, architecture governance, design controls, verification, validation, and release readiness.
  • Cloud operations leadership, including AWS, DevOps, service reliability, incident and escalation management, observability, resilience, and operational governance.
  • Business acumen, strategic planning, portfolio management, budget management, resource planning, and stakeholder management across global functions.
  • People leadership, including management through subordinate managers, technical leadership development, succession planning, performance management, and organizational capability building.
  • Quality, regulatory, and audit readiness experience, including healthcare regulations, FDA/MDR expectations, risk-based decision-making, and regulated software delivery.
  • Customer install-base management, including operational continuity, lifecycle planning, customer escalation handling, and field feedback integration.
  • Cardiology and/or radiology workflow understanding, including clinical informatics, enterprise healthcare environments, and customer usage patterns.
