Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in Chennai seeks an experienced design engineer to develop lighting concepts within functional, cost, and weight targets, considering spatial arrangement and boundary conditions to deliver first-time innovative solutions.

You will benchmark lighting technologies, coordinate with suppliers from concept through SOP, manage design release and validation, and ensure compliance with DFMEA and CAE practices; travel across India may be required.

Qualifications

• BE/B Tech Mechanical/Automobile/Mechatronics at graduate level.
• Experience with design releases, validation, and DFMEA processes.
• Knowledge of CAE Thermal, Vibration & Condensation.

Responsibilities

• Develop design concepts within functional requirements (design/cost/weight targets).
• Benchmark lighting technologies and lead POC, SOR, DVP & development for controls.
• Interface with supplier from concept to SOP, addressing build & validation issues.
• Review and release technical specifications and documentation.

Job description

Should be able to visualize and develop design concepts within the consideration of functional requirement (design / cost / weight targets), position (spatial arrangement, interactions, boundary conditions), geometry (dimension/tolerance etc.), gap and flushness considering the vehicle level requirements/ constraints of systems/subsystems (as an input to the SOR) and thereby executing first time innovative solutions and
Benchmarking of lighting technologies
POC, SOR, DVP, TSO & development for controls, meeting all functional, quality & regulatory standards/requirements with in project time line.
Interact with supplier from concept to SOP capturing all SOR requirements & address build & validation issues
Managing and tracking of design release, development, validation & field failures
Review & release technical specifications & other documentations
Should have detail knowledge in capacitive switches CAD packaging and Design
Knowledge in CAE Thermal, Vibraton & Condensations
Should have additional knowledge in Wiring harness, Electronics HW
Must demonstrate a high degree of problem solving ability, especially in the field of expertise. Usage of tools used in DFMEA, problem solving tools and techniques and project management tools
Fluent in use of personal computer programs such as Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, project etc.

Experience

6 to 8 years

Industry Preferred

Any other OEM or Tier I like Marquardt, LS Automotive , KOSTAL & Carling
