Job summary

Bondada Group is seeking an experienced BESS Testing & Commissioning Engineer for site-based work in Tamil Nadu. The role requires 6–8 years of hands-on experience in electrical testing, commissioning and power systems, with a focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems, PCS, BMS, EMS and SCADA integration.

You will lead pre-commissioning to final energization and handover, coordinating with OEM and EPC contractors.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of overall experience in Electrical Testing & Commissioning.
• Hands-on experience in BESS / Solar + BESS / Renewable energy / Substation / Power Plant projects is preferred.
• Experience with PCS, BMS, EMS and SCADA integration is highly preferred.
• Experience coordinating with client/OEM and site commissioning leadership is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute BESS testing and commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through energization and handover.
• Review and understand SLDs, wiring diagrams, control schematics, protection logic and OEM manuals.
• Perform testing of battery racks, BMS, PCS, SCADA, MV/LV switchgear, transformers and HVAC interfaces.
• Carry out PCS charging/discharging tests, grid synchronization and operational mode testing.
• Verify BMS alarms, trips, interlocks and SOC/SOH monitoring.
• Coordinate with OEM, EPC contractor, client and utility representatives.
• Prepare commissioning documents, test reports, check sheets and handover dossiers.
• Ensure testing aligns with method statements, ITPs and OEM procedures.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced BESS Testing & Commissioning Engineer with 6–8 years of strong technical experience in electrical testing, commissioning and power systems. The candidate should have hands-on experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems, PCS/Inverters, BMS, EMS, SCADA, MV/LV systems and protection systems.

• Lead and execute BESS testing and commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through final energization and handover.
• Review and understand Single Line Diagrams (SLD), wiring diagrams, control schematics, protection logic and OEM manuals.
• Perform inspection and testing of:
• Battery racks/modules/containers
• Battery Management System (BMS)
• Power Conversion System (PCS)
• SCADA and communication systems
• MV/LV switchgear
• Transformers
• Auxiliary systems
• HVAC and fire detection/suppression interfaces
• Carry out electrical tests such as IR, continuity, earth resistance, voltage/current verification and functional tests as applicable.
• Conduct PCS charging/discharging tests, grid synchronization and operational mode testing.
• Verify BMS alarms, trips, interlocks, SOC/SOH monitoring and protection functions.
• Perform protection relay testing, trip circuit verification, interlock testing and emergency shutdown/E-Stop testing.
• Verify communication between BMS, PCS, EMS and SCADA.
• Troubleshoot electrical, control, communication and system integration issues during commissioning.
• Coordinate with OEM, EPC contractor, client, electrical contractors and utility representatives.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning documents, test reports, check sheets, punch lists and handover dossiers.
• Ensure all testing activities are carried out according to approved method statements, ITPs, project specifications and OEM procedures.
• Support SAT, performance testing, reliability testing and final project handover.

Qualification & Experience:

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering preferred.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering with strong relevant commissioning experience may also be considered.
• 6–8 years of overall experience in Electrical Testing & Commissioning.
• Strong preference for candidates with hands-on experience in BESS / Solar + BESS / Renewable Energy / Substation / Power Plant projects.
• Experience in utility-scale BESS projects will be an added advantage.
• Experience with PCS, BMS, EMS and SCADA integration is highly preferred.
• Experience in client/OEM coordination and site commissioning leadership is desirable.
• Candidates with Tamil Nadu project / utility coordination experience will be preferred.
