Job summary

Jio World Centre is seeking a senior Public Health Engineering leader to oversee water distribution, quality, STP/ETP operations, and sustainability programs across the centre.

You will drive regulatory compliance, asset reliability, and a culture of safety while leading a multidisciplinary team in a large hospitality/convention environment located in Mumbai.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/civil/environmental/public health engineering or related discipline.
• Master's degree in environmental engineering, Water Management, Sustainability preferred.
• Certifications in Water Treatment, Environmental Management, Boiler Operations, Asset Management, or Sustainability advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee water distribution, wastewater, drainage, boiler operations, and waste management.
• Lead STP/ETP operations, regulatory reporting, and environmental compliance.
• Develop water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and sustainability initiatives.
• Manage stormwater drainage, flood mitigation, and groundwater recharge programs.
• Drive asset reliability with preventive/predictive maintenance and lifecycle planning.
• Lead a high-performing PHE team and ensure safety/compliance culture.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will serve as the custodian of all Public Health Engineering (PHE) functions at Jio World Centre, ensuring world-class standards in water management, wastewater treatment, utility reliability, environmental compliance, sustainability, and asset performance. The role is responsible for driving operational excellence across water distribution, sewage treatment, drainage systems, boiler operations, waste management, and sustainability initiatives while supporting the Centres long-term ESG and sustainability objectives.

KEY OBJECTIVES / JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Water Distribution & Utility Management

• Manage potable water, drinking water, flushing water, cooling tower water, irrigation water, HVAC water systems, and process-water networks.
• Ensure seamless integration and optimization of municipal, tanker, and recycled water sources.
• Monitor utility performance through operational analytics and data-driven decision making.
• Ensure uninterrupted water supply across all facilities.
• Oversee HVAC utility systems including chillers and auxiliary pumping infrastructure.

Water Quality Management

• Establish and manage water quality assurance programs.
• Ensure compliance with IS 10500, IS 8188, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Monitor physical, chemical, and microbiological water quality parameters.
• Implement corrective and preventive measures to maintain water safety and quality standards.

STP Operations & Environmental Compliance

• Lead operation and optimization of STP and ETP facilities.
• Ensure compliance with MPCB, CPCB, and environmental regulations.
• Monitor treatment plant performance, water quality parameters, and statutory reporting.
• Drive maximum utilization of treated water and environmental best practices.
• Manage regulatory audits, inspections, and compliance submissions.

Water Conservation & Sustainability

• Develop water conservation and efficiency programs.
• Increase recycled water utilization and reduce freshwater dependency.
• Improve cooling tower efficiency and water recovery initiatives.
• Support ESG reporting and sustainability performance objectives.

Stormwater & Rainwater Management

• Manage stormwater drainage systems and flood mitigation strategies.
• Ensure reliability of drainage networks, pumping stations, and rainwater harvesting systems.
• Develop monsoon preparedness and risk mitigation plans.
• Enhance rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge initiatives.

Waste Management & Environmental Stewardship

• Oversee solid waste, wet waste, composting, and disposal operations.
• Ensure compliance with waste management regulations and environmental standards.
• Drive recycling, resource recovery, and waste segregation initiatives.
• Improve waste processing efficiency and sustainability outcomes.

Boiler & Steam Systems Management

• Manage boiler operations supporting kitchens, laundry, and process applications.
• Ensure safe and efficient steam generation and distribution.
• Monitor boiler water chemistry, pressure, temperature, and safety compliance.
• Drive reliability and efficiency improvement initiatives.

Asset Reliability & Maintenance Excellence

• Establish preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
• Improve asset reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance.
• Lead root-cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Develop capital replacement and infrastructure renewal plans.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

• Lead and develop a high-performing PHE team.
• Provide technical leadership across water, wastewater, drainage, pumping, and boiler systems.
• Promote a culture of safety, compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering / civil engineering / environmental engineering/public health engineering or related discipline.

• Certifications in Water Treatment, Environmental Management, Boiler Operations, Asset Management, or Sustainability will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Public Health Engineering, Utilities Management, Environmental Operations, or Facility Engineering.
• Experience in hospitality, convention centres, airports, large commercial developments, mixed-use developments, or integrated townships preferred.
• Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing critical utility assets
