Job Description
The candidate will be responsible for the production of Public Health Engineering services designs, predominantly for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings, working individually or as part of a team. Taking a senior role in project design work, focused on production and liaison with the WSP India Australian (AU) Team and mentoring and coaching junior members of the team.
Responsibilities
- Domestic cold & hot water demand and its pipe sizing, secondary hot water looping design.
- Water heater storage and sizing based on ASHRAE code, hunter curve and applicable local codes.
- Design and selections for hot water heating systems: point‑of‑use electric, centralized boiler/calorifier and air‑source heat pump (ASHP) systems.
- Heat‑tracing design for exposed cold and hot water distribution based on international/UK standards and regulations.
- Foul drainage flow, pipe sizing, grease, oil and lint interceptor design based on system requirements.
- Sewage lift station, dewatering, basement sump pumps and lift sump pump sizing and capacity as per applicable codes and standards.
- Basement open channel drain sizing and roof rainwater gutter sizing design.
- Septic tank sizing and soak pit design.
- Rainwater system design and pipe‑sizing calculations based on applicable codes and standards.
- Conventional system and siphonic system design based on client requirements.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NFPA, AU, UAE, Indian and BS.
- Fire detection and alarm system design based on NFPA‑72, UAE and NBC codes.
- Strong knowledge of design, QC checking and reviewing of public health and fire protection system services.
- Ability to perform multidisciplinary coordinate checks, attend client meetings and respond to client comments/RFI in all design stages.
- Experience in fire protection design across all stages (concept, schematic, detailed, shop, as‑built and GFC) and preparation of design reports.
- Excellent working knowledge of NBC, BS, NFPA and other local codes; good working knowledge of international codes would be advantageous.
- Design experience of international projects.
- Demonstrated good management and technical skills.
- Proficient in technical software such as Hevacomp, H2X, Hyena and Revit.
- Sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.
- Fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
- Leadership and guiding the team, proactive approach to find solutions to problems.
- Taking care of health and safety for self and team members.
Desired Skills
- Ability to demonstrate good management and technical skills and work both within a team and independently, as dictated by workload.
- Excellent working knowledge of NBC, BS, NFPA, AU and other local codes; good working knowledge of international codes would be advantageous.
- Professional membership and professional qualification (CEng) from international professional institutions.
Qualifications
Should have a degree in Civil or Mechanical.
