Job summary

Amara Raja Group is seeking an Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager PHE Design Engineer to plan, design and coordinate plumbing, drainage, water supply and firefighting systems for diverse developments. The role requires ensuring compliance with NBC, IS codes, CPHEEO guidelines, and project standards.

The incumbent will prepare drawings, perform hydraulic calculations, review vendor data, and support site teams during execution and approvals.

Qualifications

• B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–15 years of experience in PHE design for large projects.
• Strong knowledge of NBC, IS Codes, CPHEEO and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concept, schematic, detailed design and construction drawings for PHE systems.
• Design and size water supply, drainage, and storm water systems and STP/ETP.
• Review drawings for coordination and perform hydraulic calculations.
• Prepare BOQs, specs, reports and tender documents.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards and client requirements.

Job Summary

The PHE (Public Health Engineering) Design Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, coordination, and execution of plumbing, drainage, water supply, sewage treatment, rainwater harvesting, and firefighting systems for residential, commercial, industrial, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. The role requires ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Prepare concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction drawings for PHE systems.
• Design and size water supply, domestic water, flushing water, hot water, drainage, sewage, storm water, and rainwater harvesting systems.
• Review architectural and MEP drawings for design coordination.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing.
• Prepare pumping system calculations and equipment selection.
• Design STP, WTP, ETP, and water storage systems as per project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, IS Codes, CPHEEO guidelines, local authority regulations, and project standards.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and clients.
• Participate in design review meetings and technical discussions.
• Resolve technical issues during design and construction stages.
• Support site teams in design clarifications and technical approvals.

Documentation

• Prepare BOQs, material specifications, technical reports, and design calculations.
• Review vendor submissions and technical data sheets.
• Prepare tender and bid documents related to PHE works.
• Maintain project documentation and design records.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and sustainability requirements.
• Conduct design reviews and value engineering exercises.
• Implement best engineering practices to optimize cost and performance.

Qualification

Educational Qualification

• B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering OR
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

Assistant Manager

• 6 to 10 years of experience in PHE design for building projects.

Deputy Manager

• 10 to 15 years of experience in PHE design and project coordination.
• Experience handling large commercial, residential, hospitality, industrial, or mixed-use projects.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of PHE system design.
• Knowledge of NBC, IS Codes, CPHEEO, UPC, and local authority regulations.
• Proficiency in:
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit MEP
  • Navisworks (preferred)
  • MS Office
  • Hydraulic calculation software (preferred)
• Ability to prepare detailed engineering calculations and reports.
• Understanding of firefighting systems will be an added advantage.
