Job summary

WSP India is seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Line Design Engineer in Bengaluru to lead design and analysis of 11kV–400kV projects using PLS tools. You will optimize routing, tower types, and conductor selection while ensuring compliance with international standards.

The role requires 15+ years in transmission line design, proficiency in PLS-CADD/STAAD.Pro, and collaboration with project teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
• 15+ years in overhead transmission line design and tower analysis.
• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole or STAAD.Pro, and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of transmission line engineering principles, materials, and construction practices.
• Excellent collaboration with clients, project teams, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze overhead transmission lines (11kV-400kV+) using PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, and other tools.
• Optimize line routing, structure spotting, and conductor selection for cost-effective solutions.
• Develop and analyze self-supporting, guyed, and monopole transmission towers.
• Perform structural load analysis, foundation design, and stress calculations.
• Advanced expertise in PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools.
• Ensure all designs comply with IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC, ANSI, and other international standards.
• Conduct electrical clearance studies and load compliance reviews.
• Conduct wind, ice, seismic, and load impact studies as per project locations.
• Ensure electrical and mechanical clearances align with safety requirements.
• Support project teams by providing technical guidance, review of designs, and feasibility assessments.
• Conduct field visits for topographic surveys, line inspections, and validation of design parameters.
• Resolve site-specific technical challenges in collaboration with field teams.
• Develop detailed design reports, drawings, and engineering documentation for project approvals.
• Provide technical recommendations and support tender preparation.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to improve design efficiency.
• Identify and implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality and safety.
